Enter Work Center

This procedure is used to enter or change a work center, thereby processing work center information and costs.

Before you start

Before you begin to enter a work center, a department and foreman area must be entered.

Follow these steps

Follow the steps below to enter or change a work center:

  1. Start 'Work Center. Open' (PDS010).

  2. Create the work center by specifying a work center number.

  3. Specify information regarding the work center in panels E, F, and G.

  4. If you want to use M3 Scheduling Workbench (SWB), select resource type 6 on panel E.

  5. On panel F, select one of the auto-reporting options to indicate whether an operation planned for the work center should be reported automatically:

    0 (No)

1 (Yes, these operations are reported automatically when reporting is done on the next controlling operation)

    2 (Controlling operation)

3 (Yes, auto-reporting of operation time based on production receipt)

Note: For work center-related operations with alternative 3, the need for manual reporting is eliminated. All operation times with an associated auto-reporting setting of 3 are calculated and reported automatically by the system when the manufacturing quantities are received.
  6. Select the work center and option 11='Rates' to start 'Costing Component. Specify W/C Rates' (PCS100). If the work center is a subcontract work center, related option 11 will start 'Costing Component. Enter Material O/H' (PCS115) instead.

  7. Create costs by specifying a calculation type and calculation date.

  8. Specify hourly costs. End this program using F3='End' to return to 'Work Center. Open' (PDS010).

  9. Select the work center and option 12='Capacity' to start 'Work Center. Change Capacity' (PDS015). For more information, see Create Capacity Calendar.

Output

This procedure results in either creating or updating work center and related costs. Additionally, a capacity calendar is created for each work center.
