Starting, Stopping, Validating and Attesting of Operation Time

This document explains how you, on a workshop level, report:

  • Start and stop of setup time or run time for one or several operations
  • Start and stop of disturbance period
  • Manufactured number of units and discarded number of units.

The document also explains how you, on a planning level:

  • Validate reported operations and, if necessary, correct start times and number of manufactured units
  • Finish and authorize operations.

Outcome

If you have stopped one or several operations:

  • One or several operation's time usage has been entered
  • Manufactured and discarded number of units has been entered.

In addition, if you have stopped all the operations on a manufacturing order:

  • The products in work (PIW) have been reduced
  • The number of MOs has been reduced.

The following files are updated:

  • MWOOPE, which continuously stores time usage and manufactured quantities
  • MWOPTR, which stores all operation transactions.

If the operation is the last on the manufacturing order, the following files are also updated:

  • MITLOC, which stores balance changes
  • MITTRA, which stores stock transactions history.

You can transfer calculated times to the payroll system where they will become the foundation for payment of salaries.

If you want to print out a list of authorized operations, use 'MO Operation. Print Per Day' (PMS450). Transferred operations are listed in 'MO Operation. Display Transactions' (PMS095), as well as in the production statistics.

Material issue is also updated in connection with the stop of an operation if backflush is used. Backflush means that a controlling operation automatically reports previous operations, and that material usage is entered in relation to manufactured number of units. A common option is that the material usage is instead entered in connection with the work order being released.

Before you start

Basic data for start and stop operations must be defined. See 'Settings - Operation Reporting' (PMS490).

Follow These Steps

  1. Start and stop setup time or run time for one or several operations

Enter the start of the setup time or run time for one or several operations. You do this for an individual employee or for a work group.

For information about which program is used, see Start and Stop Registering Labor Time for an Operation and Start and Stop Registering Labor Time for Several Operations.

  2. Start and stop disturbance period

If you are disabled to do the whole operation you should start a disturbance period on the operation. When you are ready to start working on the interrupted operation, you stop the disturbance period.

For information about which program is used, see Start and Stop a Disturbance Period.

  3. Stop setup time or run time for one or several operations

Enter stop of the setup time or run time for one or several operations. You do this for an individual employee or for a work group. When you report a stop, you can either close partial operations or whole operations. You can also choose to stop an operation without closing it.

For information about which program is used, see Start and Stop Registering Labor Time for an Operation and Start and Stop Registering Labor Time for Several Operations.

  4. Calculate time

When you stop an operation, the time for the operation is calculated automatically. The calculation takes place outside of the time the employee is present according to the employee's calendar or with regard to Time & Attendance reporting, if this is used. If piece rate is applied, the employee's piece-rate earnings are simultaneously calculated.

  5. Validate operation times

Select which work operations you want to have presented with regard to, for example, employee number and start date.

If an operation includes incorrect information, you can correct it. You can change the start time and the discarded number, but not the stop time. The contents of the material and time files are updated automatically.

If an operation is not completed in connection with a stop, you can close the operation in 'MO Operation. Report' (PMS070).

Validate the operations in 'MO Operation. Open Reported' (PMS400).

  6. Authorize operation

You can choose to either authorize all the presented operations or authorize them one at a time.

Authorize in 'MO Operation. Open Reported' (PMS400).
