Enable Production Statistics

This document explains how you connect costing components and define statistics settings for your company.

Outcome

You have defined the:

Costing components’ various parts
Number of years the statistics should be saved
Unit of measure in which the quantity produced in each work center should be displayed
Total for an optional number of costing components.

These are the functionality uses:

After defining the cost totals, you can continue to define the statistic settings for your company.
After defining statistic settings for your company, you can continue with the production statistics’ process.
When production statistics are created, the included components’ values are totaled and displayed.
With production statistics you can create and display average statistics in ‘MO Statistics. Display Average’ (PMS315), ‘MO Operation Stats. Display Average’ (PMS336) and ‘MO Material Stats. Display Average’ (PMS346). These components should be used in repetitive production environments where period totals are more relevant than weekly follow-up on individual orders.

The settings are stored in the CSYPAR file.

Before you start

Other parts of Manufacturing Order Processing (MOP) should be installed.
Product Costing (PCO) should be installed and costing components should have been defined.

Parameters to Set


Program ID/Panel	Field	The field indicates …
(PMS395/E)	Fixed/variable	… if the costing total amount is considered fixed or variable. The valid alternatives are: 0 = Fixed 1 = Variable.
(PMS395/E)	Costing component	… the costing component’s ID. The valid From/To ranges are: A01 – A03 = Material cost (direct material) A04 – A05 = Material overhead B01 – B14 = Operation cost (excluding subcontracting and tools) C01 – C02 = Tool costs for operations D01 – D01 = Subcontract costs for operations D02 – D02 = Subcontract overhead for operations E01 – E10 = Product costs (common costs).
(PMS390/E)	Years to save W/C statistics (by week)	… the number of years, in addition to the current year, weekly statistics are saved per work center. The historical statistics are deleted when (PMS300) or (MCS300) is run. Example: If statistics should be saved for two years, a record for any week in 1998 will be kept until the last week in 2000. During the first statistics run in 2001, all statistics for 1998 will be deleted.
PMS390/E	Years to save order statistics	… the number of years detailed statistics are saved. The statistics are deleted when (PMS300) or (MCS300) is run. Example: If detailed statistics must be saved for two years, the statistics of an order finished in 1998 will be kept until the end of 2000. During the first statistics run in 2001, all statistics for 1998 will be deleted.
(PMS390/E)	Create average statistics	… whether to create average statistics. Average statistics are calculated when detailed statistics are created.
(PMS390/E)	Cost total	… the total for an optional number of costing components. When production statistics are created, the included components’ values are totaled and displayed in the field. Costing totals 1 and 2 refer to costs related to material for the order. The costing total is expressed in local currency for each price quantity.
(PMS390/E)	Cost total 1 – 6	… the total for an optional number of costing components. When production statistics are created, the included components’ values are totaled and displayed in the field. Costing totals 1 and 2 refer to costs related to material for the order. The costing total is expressed in local currency for each price quantity. Costing totals 3 to 6 refer to costs related to operations for the order. The costing total is expressed in local currency for each price quantity.
(PMS390/E)	Quantity U/M in work center statistics	… the unit of measure (U/M). The selected U/M is used to display and calculate work center statistics. The valid alternatives are: 0 = Item's basic U/M 1 = Initial weight per operation 2 = Conversion factor per work center entered in (PDS045). If 0 is selected, the number of maintained objects per order will be displayed. If 1 is selected, the weight is displayed. This could be of importance when you need to keep track of weight changes in maintained objects. Alternative 2 is not used for maintenance.
(PMS390/E)	Calculation method – operation figures	… how the operation figures should be calculated. The valid alternatives are: 1 = Real values are used. If there is no reporting, the order costing value is zero. 2 = Product costing is used if the operation is not reported.
(PMS390/E)	Costing type – costed MO	… the costing type used when costing a manufacturing order.
(PMS390/E)	Costing type – actual cost MO	… the costing type used for the actual costing of a manufacturing order.

Follow These Steps

To connect a costing component, start ‘Production Cost Total. Open’ (PMS395/B).
To create a new total cost, enter the name of the total cost you want to create. Click the New icon and go to the E panel.
To change a total cost, Select the total cost you want to change. Go to the E panel.
On the E panel, enter/change a description and a name.
Select whether the total cost should be considered fixed or variable.
Select the costing components. Type the IDs in the valid fields, or press F4 and select the IDs from the list.
Press Enter to exit. If you created a new costing component, it should now be displayed in the sub-file on the B panel.
To define statistics settings for a company, start ‘Settings - Production Statistics’ (PMS390/E).
Enter the number of years to save the W/C and order statistics.
Select whether to create average statistics.
There are six different cost total fields. Type the appropriate costing components.
Enter the unit of measure in which you want the W/Cs quantity to be displayed.
Select a calculation method.
Select a costing type for planned cost and actual cost MO.

Press F4 for valid alternatives. If you want to create a new costing type, you can double-click F4 to go to ‘Costing Type. Open’ (PCS005), where you can create a new (or change an old) costing type.
Press Enter to finish.
