Work Center Schedule Manufacturing Order

This document explains how you plan operations per work center by sorting, for example, dates, schedule numbers, or co-sorting keys. The document also explains how you edit the schedule numbers that identify a group joint scheduled manufacturing order (MO).

Outcome

Work center scheduling results in:

  • A sequenced MO, that is, the operations' queue, setup, and lead times are minimized and the tool is effectively used.
  • An approved MO with the status 'Work center scheduled' (50).

See Work Center Scheduling Manufacturing Order .

Work center scheduling describes in which order and at what time the operations will be carried out. Sequencing is used when load is high in order to make the production more efficient. If, for example, there is a bottleneck in production, you sequence the operations in order to minimize setup times; operations with similar settings are planned to be performed one after the other.

Follow these steps

  1. Start 'Work Center Schedule. Open' (PMS230).

  2. specify a work center in the 'Work center' field.

  3. Specify dates in the 'From/To date' fields.

  4. Select an sorting order in the list box.

    These are the valid alternatives:

1 = Selected fields according to view

2 = Schedule number, schedule sequence and view fields

3 = Schedule number and view fields.

  5. Select, if necessary, the MO that will be displayed by selecting 'Selection' (F17) in order to open the S panel.

  6. Select a view by pressing F4 in the 'View' field. You can then select one of these options:

  7. To edit a schedule number, with its corresponding MO, use these functions:

    • Add a MO to a schedule number by selecting 'Add schedule number' (alternative 91).
    • Delete a schedule number by selecting 'Delete schedule number' (alternative 94).
    • Create a schedule number for a group of MOs that you want to joint schedule by selecting 'Joint schedule' (alternative 99), in order to start 'Schedule Number. Open' (PMS270/E).
  8. For sequencing, highlight the operation to which you want to give a sequence number.

  9. Fill in the sequence number in the 'Schedule sequence' column.

  10. Reschedule the start and stop times for the sequenced operations by selecting 'Reschedule'=F18.

This rescheduling is only possible when shift planning is used.

Reschedule may only be used if M3 Scheduling Workbench (SWB) is not activated for the facility.

  11. Fill in these fields in the dialog box:

    • Start date, From, and To
    • Schedule number, From, and To
    • Schedule number sequence, From, and To
    • Start date
    • Start time.
  12. If you also want to reschedule previous and/or subsequent operations, and order-initiated products, highlight these fields:

    • Rescheduling lower level
    • Reschedule downstream
    • Reschedule upstream.
  13. To approve a work center schedule for a MO, select 'Work center schedule' (alternative 22). The status of the MO is raised to 'Work center scheduled' (50).

If you rescheduled after the sequencing, the MO is already approved.

  14. Finish by pressing Enter.
