Connect a Learning Curve to a Control Object
This document explains how you connect a learning curve to a control object in M3 Manufacturing. Learning curves describe how production efficiency increases over time.
The learning curve function is only used when M3 Business Engine (BE) is integrated with M3 Scheduling Workbench (M3 SWB).
Outcome
A learning curve is connected to a control object, such as a product or a work center, or a combination of control objects. The learning curve is also assigned a valid from date.
The learning curve model is saved in the MLECID table.
The learning curve models are used to calculate work order lead time. The calculation is used as an aid when planning and scheduling production. The learning curves, the learning curve models, and historical information about the learning curve per product are transferred to M3 SWB by using the migration program PDS250MI.
Before you start
- A learning curve must be defined in 'Learning Curve. Open' (PDS250).
- The object 'Learning curve' (PDS251) must be defined in 'Available Object Ctrl Parameter. Open' (CMS016). Which control objects a learning curve can be connected to must be defined in 'Generic Object Control Table. Open' (CMS017). The valid control objects are facility, style number, product group, item group, item number, or work center.
Follow These Steps
-
Start 'Learning Curve Model. Open' (PDS251/B).
-
Specify the control objects for which the learning curve model should apply.
You can define several learning curve models, each one valid for a more detailed combination of objects.
Example: A general learning curve model can be defined for the facility 'FA1' product group 'Vehicle', while a more specific learning curve model is defined for facility 'FA1', product group 'Vehicle' and item group 'Wheels'.
Note that if you use work center as an object, the work center entered must have resource type 1 (Operation) or 6 (Work center resource).
-
Set the priority of the learning curve model to 1.
-
Enter the date from when the learning curve model should be valid. Select Create.
-
On the E panel, enter the learning curve that should apply for the learning curve model. Press Enter.
