Reclassify to Subcontract Manufacturing Order Operations

This instruction explains how you change an operation on a manufacturing order (MO) that was planned to be performed at a local work center to a subcontracted operation.

Outcome

The load has been reduced and one or several operations have been moved to an outside facility.

The following files are affected:

  • MO operations file MWOOPE
  • Detailed load for rough-cut capacity planning, stored in MCPSPE
  • Capacity/load per resource and week, stored in MCPSUM
  • Planning group workload per year, stored in MWLOAD
  • MO header file MWOHED
  • PO header file MPHEAD
  • Purchase order line MPLINE
  • PO address file MPPOAD
  • Planning overview MITPLO.

Use subcontracted operations when there is a need for more capacity.

Before you start

There must be:

  • An MO with a status between 20 and 80
  • A work center for subcontracting orders. You define work centers in 'Work Center. Open' (PDS010).

Follow These Steps

  1. Start 'Manufact Order. Open' (PMS100).

  2. Select option 11=Material/operation to start 'Manufact Order. Open Lines' (PMS101/B3).

  3. Double-click the operation you want to subcontract to display the G panel.

  4. Replace the original work center with a subcontracted work center.

  5. Select Next on the H, I and J panels, to get to 'MO Operation. Connect Operation Element' (PMS104/B).

  6. Select Exit to return to 'Manufact Order. Open' (PMS100/B).

The order's status will have 2 as the second digit while the system is working. You can continue with the next step as soon as the second digit in the status is back to 0.

  7. Select option 11=Material/operation to start 'Manufact Order. Open Lines' (PMS101/B3).

  8. Double click the operation you want to subcontract to display the G panel.

  9. Select F14=Create subcontracting operation to create a purchase order (PO) for the operation.

  10. Press Enter to finish.
