LI Limit Values

There are three kinds of LI limit values: internal, external, and alarm.

Internal LI limit values

These define tolerances for internal approval of an item when it is inspected. When a manufactured lot prepared for sale is inspected, the internal LI limit values define the requirements to be met before delivery.

When a lot received during procurement is inspected, the internal LI limit values define the requirements to be met before the item is approved for internal use.

External LI limit values

These define tolerances for external approval of an item when it is inspected. When a manufactured lot prepared for sale is inspected, the external LI limit values define the requirements necessary for customer or market approval before delivery.

For lots in the procurement process, external LI limit values define the requirements a supplier must meet before purchased material is accepted for internal use.

Alarm LI limit values

These are stricter tolerances than those required for approval, either for sale or use. Alarm LI limit values define a limit for when a warning is issued that the actual values are close to exceeding the internal or external LI limits.
