Scheduling Dates/Times

Scheduling dates and times in service orders includes planning start and completion dates for tasks and assignments. These can be entered manually or calculated from last start time.

Description

Scheduling is used to determine load on a service manager or technician, and when a service assignment must start in order to keep within an agreed response time. It can also be used to reserve materials for a specific service assignment.

To calculate scheduling the following time components are taken into account:

  • Preparation time
  • Travel time
  • Slack time
  • Service time
  • Completion time.

The following describes how scheduling is calculated.

Latest Start Time

The latest start time specifies the latest point when a service assignment can start in order to meet an agreed response time. This can be entered manually or calculated based on when the error report is made, the response time and work schedule.

This is calculated as follows:

  1. Start with the time the error report is made.

  2. Check work schedules and response times.

  3. Forward schedule from the error report time taking into account load and agreed response time.

Scheduled Start - Assignment

This refers to the date and time when a service assignment is scheduled to begin. It can be entered manually or calculated automatically.

This is calculated as follows:

  1. Start with latest start time.

  2. Back schedule taking into account load and work schedule. The result here is the sum of preparation time, slack time, and travel time divided by two. These components can be specified in the service order type, for the service manager or manually. Standard proposals are always entered in the service order type.

Scheduled Completion - Assignment

This refers to the date and time when a service assignment is scheduled to be completed. It can be entered manually or calculated automatically.

This is calculated as follows:

  1. Start with scheduled start for the assignment.

  2. Forward schedule taking into account the work schedule. This result is the sum of preparation time, travel time, service time and completion time. These components can be specified in the service order type, for the service manager or manually. Standard proposals are always entered in the service order type.

Scheduled Start - Task

This refers to the date and time when the tasks in a service assignment are scheduled to start. It can be entered manually or calculated automatically.

This is calculated as follows:

  1. Start with scheduled start for the assignment.

  2. Forward schedule taking into account the work schedule. This result is the sum of preparation time and travel time divided by two. These components can be specified in the service order type, for the service manager or manually. Standard proposals are always entered in the service order type.

Scheduled Completion - Task

This refers to the date and time when the tasks in a service assignment are scheduled to be completed. It can be entered manually or calculated automatically.

This is calculated as follows:

  1. Start with scheduled start for the assignment.

  2. Forward schedule taking into account the work schedule. This result is the sum of preparation time, travel time and performance time divided by two. These components can be specified in the service order type, for the service manager or manually. Standard proposals are always entered in the service order type.
