Reporting Inspection Result, Scrap and Attributes for Manufacturing Operations

This document explains how you report inspection result, scrap and attributes for production lots and operations in process.

Outcome

  • The inspection result is reported with or without an attached message.
  • Scrap has been reported and if it is for back-flushed material the stock has been reduced.
  • Cost accounting has been updated with the cost of the scrap.
  • New and changed attributes have been reported.

Work on the manufacturing order continues.

A manufacturing order with special quality demands can be flagged as completed after necessary controls in 'Quality Inspected Item. Put-away' (PMS130).

For more details on how the system is affected, refer to the related documents listed in the See Also section.

Before you start

Refer to the related documents listed in the See Also section.

Follow These Steps

  1. Report the inspection result.

The result of the performed inspection is reported as an optional alphanumeric value, or as a predefined value from a table. You can display the limits for the value to be approved. If the inspection gives a non-approved result you can attach a message to the result.

You report inspection results in 'MO Operation. Report Inspection Result' (PMS085). The inspection result can also be reported after the operation/order is completed.

For more information, refer to Report Inspection Result in Process on Manufacturing Orders.

  2. Report scrapped items.

The number of items that have been scrapped during the operation or at inspection should be reported. You can also report a reason for the scrapping.

The scrapped items are registered in cost accounting.

You report scrapped items in 'MO Operation. Report' (PMS070). The scrap can also be reported after the operation/order is completed.

For more information, refer to Report Scrapped Item in Process.

  3. Report attributes.

When an operation contains activities that results in changed or new attribute values for the product, the values can be reported in 'Attribute Value. Connect to' (ATS101).

An example is an operation where cloth is dyed red. After this operation the attribute for the product should be updated to red. You can also report the attributes after the operation or the order is completed.

For more information, refer to Report Attribute Values in Process on Manufacturing Order.
