Split Work Order Operation

The purpose of the procedure is to split an operation between additional personnel or machines. This procedure is used when the operation can be performed in parallel using either additional machines or personnel.

Before you start

The work orders must exist in 'Work Order. Open' (MOS100).

Follow these steps

Simple Method

  1. Select 'Work Schedule. Open Toolbox' (MOS195).

  2. Highlight the operation that you want to split and select option 'Change Operation' to display 'Work Order. Open Line' (MOS101/G).

  3. Specify the additional number of workers or machines between which the order is to be split.

  4. Confirm the entry. The system then recalculates the finish date according to the new information. This will affect the start dates of any downstream operation.

Simple Method with Replanning

  1. Select 'Work Schedule. Open Toolbox' (MOS195).

  2. Highlight the operation to be replanned and select option 'Reschedule Operation' to display 'WO Operation. Reschedule' (MOS020/E).

  3. Specify the additional number of workers and machines between which the work order operation is to be split. Also specify a new start date or finish date if applicable. Press Enter to finish.

Example

Assume an operation has a run time of 16 hours and that the operation is normally performed by one person. If the operation starts on Day 1, it will be finished on Day 2.

Note: When an operation is split between two people, that operation will begin on Day 1 and be finished on Day 1.
