Issuing Work Order Job Instructions

This document explains how to manually allocate employees and how to issue existing job instructions.

This process should be carried out before any operations on the work order are started.

Outcome

Employees are allocated to the jobs and operations that are to be performed. All relevant work order documents are printed and certain jobs are automatically closed.

The printed documents are used to assist the employees in their respective functions. The reports can be used for evaluation and future planning.

Before you start

  • The starting conditions listed in Performing Maintenance must be met.
  • The parameter settings in 'Settings – Employee Allocation' (MOS992) must be complete.
  • Valid work order types with defined printing options should be defined in 'Work Order Type. Open' (MOS120) and 'WO Type. Connect Document' (MOS119).

Description

These options are available to allocate employees:

  • Allocate people manually

People can be manually allocated to work orders if the settings in (MOS992) allow it. They may also be allocated automatically through a number of programs. When people are allocated automatically the system finds an appropriate employee and allocates him or her to the job.

  • Allocate people by multiple choice

Allocation by multiple choice allows the maintenance planner or supervisor to allocate several people to the same job. Any one of these people may then log on to do the job and thereby removing the job from the others' screens. This functionality has the potential to greatly improve the productivity.

These options are available to print existing job instructions:

  • Print work order operations per day

This step provides printed work order documentation. Details of the time spent preparing operations, recorded by starting and stopping an operation in (MOS820) and (MOS821), are printed out.

Type 10 orders defined in (MOS120) must be printed out in order to be automatically closed. Other work order documentation does not have to be printed in order to continue with the work order process.

Operations per day are printed in 'WO Operation. Print per Day' (MOS850).

Note:  It is also possible to perform this procedure after the actual work has been performed.
  • Print work order documents

This step provides printed documentation to help you carry out the work.

Type 10 orders defined in (MOS120) must be printed out in order to be automatically closed. Other work order documentation does not have to be printed in order to continue with the work order process.

Work order documents can be printed from any of these programs:

    • 'Work Order. Open' (MOS100)
    • 'Work Schedule. Open Toolbox' (MOS195)
    • 'Work Order. Print Documents' (MOS146)
    • 'Work Order. Print Separate Documents' (MOS150).
  • Print work order survey

A planning list includes information about the work order, including start and finish dates for different jobs, work that remains to be done, where the work is done, and so on.

Work order surveys are printed in 'Work Order. Print Survey' (MOS620).
