Generate Work Request Manually - Standard Entry

This document explains how you generate a standard work request for regular maintenance work.

Use this instruction when you want to propose maintenance work that does not have to be performed right away.

Outcome

A work request specifying what work should be performed and on what machine it should be performed is created.

Information about the work request is stored in the following files:

  • Work request header (MWOPLP)
  • Work request operations (MMPOPE)
  • Schedule master (MSCHMA).

The work request is displayed in 'Work Request. Open' (MOS170) where it can be estimated, replanned and released to become a work order in 'Work Order. Open' (MOS100).

The operations may be viewed and modified in 'Work Request. Open Toolbox' (MOS197), where the work request may also be released to (MOS100).

When replanning a work request it is possible to:

  • Add new operations and change existing ones
  • Add new spare parts and purchase requirements and change existing ones
  • Add specific tools and change existing ones
  • Check the capacity and allocate employees.

Before you start

  • A service must exist in 'Service. Open' (MOS300). The service must have at least status 20 and should use a planning policy with parameter 005 set to 10.
  • A serialized item/equipment must be defined in 'Equipment/Serialized Item. Open' (MMS240) if the work request is to be defined for equipment.
  • A position must be defined in 'Model/Site. Connect Position' (MOS440) if the work request is to be defined for a position.
  • If 'Approved by' is specified, this user must be defined in 'User. Open' (MNS150).
  • The basic parameters should be set in 'Work Request. Open' (MOS170/P).

Follow These Steps

Create New Work Request

  1. Start 'Work Request. Open' (MOS170/B).

  2. On the B panel, select sorting order 15 and specify either a position or the equipment that the request is to be connected to, and specify whether a position or equipment number was entered.

    The default value for browse function is the site defined in sorting order 12 in (MOS170). This means that for multi-site installations, the correct position structure might not appear if the correct site is not set.

  3. Specify a structure type, if required, and a service to be used for the work request. Select New to display the G panel.

    Information about the person responsible, facility, equipment/position, serial number, service and structure type is copied from the B panel and displayed on the G panel.

  4. Enter the requester, the person responsible for the planning, and the person who needs to approve the work request, if applicable.

    The current user can be automatically proposed as the requestor, depending on the settings on panel P.

    The responsible person is automatically retrieved from 'Equipment/Serialized Item. Open' (MMS240) or 'Model/Site. Connect Position' (MOS440).

    If no approver is entered, the approver is automatically retrieved from 'Work Order Authorization' (MOS175).

  5. Enter a requested start/finish date and time, if applicable.

    This is the point of time, at the earliest and latest, that the work is allowed to be planned to start. These dates are used mainly for informational purposes.

    If the work request is connected to a customer order or a workscope, the requested dates are retrieved from the customer order or workscope instead.

  6. Enter a start or a finish date and time, depending on whether you use forward or backward planning.

    These are the dates when the work is planned to start (and for which material and tools it is reserved) and finish.

  7. Enter a short description and a text, if required.

    The default value for description is from 'Service. Open' (MOS300). If a reason code is entered, its default value is as the value of description if the field is left blank.

    The first two lines of free text can be entered. If more text is needed the record must be saved and then edited, or the T panel should be specified in the panel sequence.

    The text is not printed on the standard work order printout. This text is passed on to the work order notepad text in 'Work Order. Open' (MOS100).

  8. Check the status and the priority and make adjustments, if required.

    The status is copied from the service in 'Service. Open' (MOS300).

    The priority is set in one of the following ways: If parameter 360 in 'Work Order Type. Open' (MOS120) is greater than 0, this value is used. If it is set to 0, the priority on the serialized item/equipment in 'Equipment/Serialized Item. Open' (MMS240) is used.

  9. Specify a transaction reason (optional) and whether the equipment should be shut down in order to carry out the work.

    This flag needs to be set for the work order to appear in 'Work Center Schedule. Open' (PMS230) and within M3 SWB.

  10. Specify a reference order type, number and line (optional).

    If the reference order category is 0, the field may also contain the work scope.

  11. Enter or change the estimated downtime, if applicable.

    The estimated downtime defined for the service in 'Service. Open' (MOS300) is proposed by default.

  12. Specify a request budget and an estimated cost, if applicable. Press Enter to finish.

Note: 

If the product is attribute-managed, Attribute Value. Connect To (ATS101) is displayed after you complete the last step. If no attribute value changes are needed, you can close the screen.

Depending on your service definition and attribute selection, you can create related services. To enable the check of related services based on attribute values, activate parameter 198 on the work order type in (MOS120).
