Generate a Selection of Work Requests or Work Orders
This document explains how you generate several work requests or work orders in M3 Maintenance based on services that meet the entered selection criteria.
This can be useful if you want to do one of the following:
- Generate all work requests to be carried out during a night stop or a pre-take-off (using the Event type field as selection)
- Manually set values for the work requests or work orders to be generated, for example assign all of them the same planned start date, assign a certain status to them, or connect them to a specific project.
Note that you also can generate a selection of recurring work requests manually in 'Work Request. Open' (MOS170) by selecting F18, or automatically by running 'Master Schedule. Regenerate' (MOS999). However, these programs are not applicable in the two examples above.
Outcome
Work requests, work orders, or both are created, depending on how the services are defined and whether you have manually assigned a status. Each work request or work order specifies the work to be performed and the machine on which it should be performed.
Work requests are displayed in 'Work Request. Open' (MOS170) and 'Work Request. Open Toolbox' (MOS197). Here you can estimate and replan the work requests and release them to become work orders in 'Work Order. Open' (MOS100).
Work orders are displayed in 'Work Order. Open' (MOS100) and 'Work Schedule. Open Toolbox' (MOS195). Work orders can be used for different purposes, such as adding components and operations, reporting time and material usage for jobs, and collecting statistics and costs.
Information about the work request is stored in the following tables:
- Work request header (MWOPLP)
- Work request operations (MMPOPE)
- Work request operation elements (MMPOPS)
- Work request material (MMPMAT)
- Schedule master (MSCHMA).
Before You Start
- A service must exist in 'Service. Open' (MOS300). The service must have status 20 (Definite) or 30 (Definite, mandatory service).
- The components you use to make the selection must be defined in each program and connected to the services in (MOS300).
Follow These Steps
Select Services
-
Start 'Work Request. Create' (MOS326/E).
-
Specify a range of products for which you want to generate work requests, if applicable.
-
Specify a range of structure types and services for which you want to generate work requests, if applicable.
-
Specify a range of service groups for which you want to generate work requests.
Service groups are used to classify different types of services.
-
Specify a range of process types for which you want to generate work requests, if applicable.
Process types are used to classify different types of services, for example as statutory or non-statutory services. They can also be used for accounting purposes.
-
Enter the status that the service must have in order to be selected, if applicable.
The valid statuses are 20 (Definite) and 30 (Definite, mandatory).
-
Specify a range of maintenance programs for which you want to generate work requests, if applicable.
Maintenance programs are company-unique keys that identify all related maintenance requirements and can be based on, for example, customer demands or manufacturer recommendations. They are often related to the highest level of the structure, such as "aircraft."
-
Enter an event type for which you want to generate work requests, if applicable.
This can be useful if you want to generate work requests for all services that should be carried out during a night stop or a pre-take-off.
-
Specify a range of work centers for which you want to generate work requests, if applicable.
A work center is a resource in which labor operations are performed. It can consist of one or more exchangeable machines or people.
-
Specify a range of estimated downtime for which you want to generate work requests, if applicable.
This can be useful if the time to carry out the work is limited.
Specify Default Values on the Generated Work Requests
Note that any values entered here, such as planned start date, will override the values that are automatically calculated when the work request is created.
-
Enter a planned start date for all generated work requests.
-
Enter a status for all generated work requests.
-
If you want to connect the work requests to a customer order or workscope, enter a reference order category and number.
-
If you want to connect the work requests to a specific project, enter the project number and project element. Press Enter.
