Define Service Effectivity
Abstract
Service effectivity can be defined by adding items and serial numbers that are affected by a service. In addition, effectivity can be defined by adding effectivity attributes to the service facility records.
Background
When you define a service, you can define it for a product, different models, positions, or for a blank product by using a service category. If the service is not applicable to all individual items for that product or model, you can add items and serial numbers as effectivity connected to the service. As an alternative or complement, you can connect attribute effectivity. This can be used when there are many serialized items with different service requirements, and the effectivity by item and serial number is too difficult to set up and maintain.
Limitations
The effectivity attributes are defined by facility and must be defined against all applicable facility records if a consolidated facility is not used.
Outcome
When service effectivity is defined in one of the two ways, the service is only applicable to serialized items that match the defined effectivity. The service effectivity is checked in the following scenarios:
- When adding maintenance customer order lines in COS101 or COS130
- When adding planned work order in MOS170 or MOS185
- When adding services in MOS106
- During SRP generation in MOS170 F18 or when continuous net change triggers regeneration (MOS950)
- When related services are added to a planned work order by COCRTPLP
Workflow
You define service effectivity by item and serial number in MOS314 or, if service revisions are used, in ECS314.
You define service effectivity using attributes in MOS301 or, if service revisions are used, in ECS301.
Follow these steps to define service effectivity
-
Open ECS/MOS300 and find the service that requires effectivity to be defined.
-
Use related option "Effectivity" to add items and, if applicable, specific serial numbers or a range of serial numbers.
Effectively attributes:
-
Open ECS/MOS300 and find the service that requires effectivity to be defined.
-
Use related option "Service/Facility." From ECS/MOS301, use the option "Effectivity attributes."
-
Use F17 to add an attribute ID and an attribute value that must be defined in MMS240 for the serialized item in order to use this service.
Configuration
- When effectivity attributes are used on the service, the attribute must match one of the attributes connected to the serialized item in MMS240.
- The attribute as such can be defined in ATS051. None of the order entry functions must be selected if the attribute will only be used for service effectivity.
