Define Basic Settings for Services

This document explains how you define basic settings for services. These settings will affect all services you create and include, for example, what panels to display when registering a new service, what facility to use and how meter readings are to be updated for a maintained object.

Follow this instruction before you start registering new services.

Outcome

You have defined how you want to work with services. All new services you register will follow the defined rules.

The settings defined are the following:

  • The panel sequence when you register new services
  • Whether related services should be created
  • Whether services should be created against the item, equipment or position file
  • Whether new services should automatically be given a structure type
  • Which facility is used for the service
  • Whether the service involves a removal or installation
  • Whether an external supplier performs the service
  • Whether performed services should automatically be approved.

The starting values are stored per user in (CSYSTR).

Before You Start

A facility must be defined in 'Facility. Open' (CRS008).

Follow These Steps

  1. Start 'Service. Open' (MOS300/P).

    Define Basic Settings for Services

  2. Specify the opening panel, panel sequence and, if used, view.

    For MRO, the normal panel sequence is EFG. For plant maintenance, the panel sequence is H.

  3. Specify whether related services should be created and whether related data should be copied.

  4. Specify against which file new services should be created, a registration number or site ID, and a date format.

  5. Specify whether configuration positions should be checked and, if so, the number of positions to use (optional).

  6. Specify whether new services should be given structure type numbers if none are specified during registration (optional).

Define Basic Settings for Service Facility

  1. Specify the facility to be used for the new service as well as the opening panel.

  2. Specify whether the service requires an exchange and whether the service is to be performed by an external supplier.

  3. Specify whether service meters should automatically be updated and whether work should automatically be approved.

  4. Specify the maximum number of records that should be allowed and whether any optional text should be copied when new records are created by copying. Press Enter to finish.

Parameters to Set

Program ID/ Panel Field The field indicates …
(MOS300/P) Panel sequence

… the sequence in which panels should appear when making entries and changes.

The valid alternatives are:

E = General information, F = General information cont, G = User defined fields, H = Full screen entry, 1 = (MOS301), 2 = (PDS002), 3 = (MOS306), 4 = (MOS304), 5 = (MOS303), 6 = (MOS302), 7 = (PPS040), 8 = (MOS311), 9 = (MOS305).

(MOS300/P) View

… which view is to be used.

Views are user defined and determine what fields are to be displayed, as well as how the data is to be calculated.

Views are defined in 'View. Open' (CRS020).

(MOS300/P) Create related service

… whether a related service should be created automatically when the service definition is registered.

This setting can be defaulted in 'Settings - Maintenance 2' (CRS789).

The valid alternatives are:

0 = No

1 = Yes.

If 1 is selected, a service that contains the removal of parts is created to enable the actual service.

This is done if the following conditions are met:

1. A default service is registered in parameter 23 in (CRS788)

2. The actual service requires that a component be removed before the service can be performed. This is specified in (MOS300/F).

(MOS300/P) Prompt product

… which file prompting should be done against when creating a new service. The selection determines what the service is created for.

This setting can be defaulted in 'Settings - Maintenance 2' (CRS789).

The valid alternatives are:

0 = Item file

1 = Item file

2 = Equipment file

3 = Position file.

(MOS300/P) Check configuration position

… whether a check should be made against the configuration position when a new service is registered.

This setting can be defaulted in 'Settings - Maintenance 2' (CRS789).

The valid alternatives are:

0 = No

1 = Yes.

(MOS300/P) Auto structure type

… whether structure type numbers should automatically be assigned.

This setting can be defaulted in 'Settings - Maintenance 2' (CRS789).

The valid alternatives are:

0 = No

1 = Yes.

If 1 is selected, a product may have the same operation and sequence numbers in the product structure. This allows the same operation number to be used for different operations. It also prevents consolidation of two services into one work order.

For example, this function makes it possible to have two disassembly operations with the same operation number, but with ten hours' work time for one and 20 hours for the other.

(MOS300/P) Copy related data

… whether related tables should be copied.

The valid alternatives are:

0 = No

1 = Yes.

(MOS300/P) Registration number/site … the valid registration number or site code.
(MOS300/P) Number of positions

… the number of positions to use when checking the service ID against the configuration positions defined in (MOS440).

If specified, the number here must agree with the number of positions in (MOS440).

(MOS300/P) Facility … the facility to be used for the service.
(MOS300/P) Exchange

… whether a removal and/or installation transaction should be created.

This setting can be defaulted in 'Settings - Maintenance 2' (CRS789).

The valid alternatives are:

0 = No

1 = Yes, removal

2 = Yes, removal and installation

3 = Yes, installation.

This can be used if a service requires that a component is removed, such as when an engine is taken off an aircraft for repairs. A replacement engine is ordered and waiting when work is scheduled to start. This limits the time the aircraft is unserviceable.

(MOS300/P) External maintenance

… whether the service is to be performed by an external supplier.

This setting can be defaulted in 'Settings - Maintenance 2' (CRS789).

The valid alternatives are:

0 = No

1 = Yes.

If 1 is selected, the identity of the external maintenance supplier should be specified on panel (MOS301/E).

(MOS300/P) Automatic meter update

… whether the service meters of the service object should be updated automatically.

This setting can be defaulted in 'Settings - Maintenance 2' (CRS789).

The valid alternatives are:

0 = No

1 = Yes.

If 0 is selected, the meters must be updated manually in (MOS180) with options 11 or 12.

If 1 is selected, the meters in (MMS242) are automatically updated when the service is approved.

(MOS300/P) Auto approval

… whether the service should be approved automatically when the last operation is reported.

This setting can be defaulted in 'Settings - Maintenance 2' (CRS789).

The valid alternatives are:

0 = No

1 = Yes.

If 0 is selected, the service must be manually approved in (MOS180) after work is completed.

(MOS300/P) Automatic meter update

… whether the service meters of the service object should be updated automatically.

This setting can be defaulted in 'Settings - Maintenance 2' (CRS789).

The valid alternatives are:

0 = No

1 = Yes.

0 = No

1 = Yes.

If 0 is selected, the service must be manually approved in (MOS180) after work is completed.
