Specify Item Number Change for Engineering Orders

This document explains how you specify a new item number for items that are modified using engineering orders.

Use this instruction when you have defined an engineering order in (MOS200). This procedure should be performed for all engineering orders, not only ones that result in an item number change.

Outcome

The engineering order is defined with the item number change. Information about the item number change is stored in the Item number change (MOCHPN) file.

All items that should be given new item numbers and that are modified with work orders generated from the engineering order are given new item numbers when the service history is updated with the engineering order modification. Items that should keep their original item number remain as they were before the modification.

Before you start

  • An engineering order head should be defined with item number change in 'Engineering Order. Open' (MOS200).
  • The new item number should be defined in 'Item. Open' (MMS001).

Follow These Steps

  1. Start 'Engineering Order. Open' (MOS200/B).

  2. Select an appropriate sorting order to identify the correct engineering order.

  3. Select the engineering order in question and select option 14='Mod Ref Comp' to display 'Eng Order. Open Component Modif Ref' (MOS212).

  4. On panel B, specify the old item number and the new item number. Select New to display panel E.

If the item number should not be changed by the modification, simply specify the old item number and leave the field for the new item number blank.

  5. On panel E, specify an instruction and a quantity (optional).

The instruction may for example be a paper document that contains a description of what should be done with the component when the modification is done.

  6. Specify a modification marking (mandatory). Press Enter to finish.

The modification marking can be used as a modification identity that is not the same as the document ID.
