Creating an As-built Configuration to Define what Components are Installed in a Model Individual

This document explains how you create the as-built configuration based on a defined model configuration. The as-built configuration contains information about the actual component and what is installed in it, for example, what engine is installed in a specific aircraft.

Use this process when you have defined the model rules for your configuration and need to describe the actual component, for example the actual engine or gearbox.

Outcome

The configuration is registered as a component with a serial number. The component has parts fitted in all defined installation positions. The information is:

  • Displayed in 'As-Built Structure. Display Indented' (MOS252)
  • Displayed in 'Work Order. Display Related Work Orders' (MOS110)
  • Used when components are installed and removed in 'As-Built Structure. Update Removal/Inst' (MOS125)
  • Used in 'Work Request. Open' (MOS170)
  • Used in 'Model/Site Individual. Open' (MOS250)
  • Used when complaints are registered in 'Complaint. Open' (MOS500).

Information about the as-built structure is stored in these files:

  • Serial number (MILOIN)
  • As-build structure (MROABS)
  • Model individual (MROMIN).

The serialized item is connected to a model in 'Item. Open' (MMS001). The status of the serialized item is systematically set based on these rules:

  • If the serialized item exists in (MOS250), the 'S/N admin' is retrieved from there.
  • If 'S/N admin'=0, the status is set to 20. This indicates that there are no plans to build an as-built structure.
  • If 'S/N admin'>0 and field 'Always sts 10'=1 in (MOS400), the status is set to 10, whether mandatory positions exist or not.
  • If the model has mandatory positions in (MOS440), the status is set to 10. If the model does not have mandatory positions in (MOS440), the status is set to 20.

Before you start

  • All starting conditions in Defining a Model Configuration and Creating an As-built Configuration must be met.
  • A model must be defined in 'Model/Site. Open' (MOS400).
  • A model type must be defined in 'Component. Connect Model/Site Type' (MOS485).
  • Installation positions must be defined for a model in 'Model/Site. Connect Position' (MOS440).
  • Installable components must be defined for all installation positions in a model in 'Position. Connect Components' (MOS450).

Follow these steps

  1. Register the component you will create as a serialized item. This creates a unique item, for example, an engine or an aircraft with a registration number.

Register components as serialized items in 'Model/Site Individual. Open' (MOS250).

Register serialized items that are not in themselves configurations in 'Equipment/Serialized Item. Open' (MMS240).

  2. Create the as-built configuration when the model rules are defined. The as-built structure is the actual structure, for example, the engine or the gearbox.

The as-built structure for operational units is created in 'Model/Site Individual. Open' (MOS250) and for all others in 'Equipment/Serialized Item. Open' (MMS240).

  3. Register which of the possible components are installed in the as-built configuration.

Components are installed in these programs:

    • 'As-Built Structure. Open' (MOS256)
    • 'As-Built Structure. Update Removal/Inst' (MOS125).
