Defining Work Order Types

A work order type with a set of rules that control how work orders using the work order type affect for example the material plan and employee allocation is defined.

The work order type is used in the work order flow and when you define a service in 'Service. Open' (MOS300).

Information about work order types is stored in the MMORDT table.

Information about work order type number series is stored in the MMORDN table.

Before you start

• A valid work order numbering series must be defined in 'Number Series. Open' (CRS165). For work orders the type is 29.
• Valid requisition order types must be defined in 'Req/Distr Order Type. Open' (CRS200).
• A user must be defined in 'User. Open' (MNS150).

Follow these steps

1. Define work order type

   Define a new work order type in 'Work Order Type. Open' (MOS120). The work order type contains a set of rules. These rules determine how work orders that use the order type are treated during the work order flow.

2. Connect facility-specific number series

   Connect a facility specific number series to your order type in 'WO Type. Connect Facility Parameters' (MOS122). This activity is optional and used when you want to give work orders different number series for, for example, easy identification.

3. Define network rules
