Reporting Operations and Inspections

This document explains how you report work that has been performed on operations that are connected to a work order.

Outcome

The operation or the inspection is reported. The time spent on the operation and the material used is recorded.

The reported operations may be approved, if required, and then closed. Uninstalled equipment may be moved to the new location for further processing, such as investigations, repairs, or placing in stock.

For regular work order operations, the following can be the result of reporting:

  • Reported WO operation, approval required
  • Reported WO operation, no approval required
  • Diagnostics message and automatically updated diagnostics
  • Movement transactions for uninstalling equipment

For inspections, inspection results are reported. The results may trigger the following:

  • An alarm work request work request based on a default service is generated. For example, the default service could be a service that triggers an investigation to determine the cause of the problem.
  • A manually specified follow-up on work request can be generated.
  • A new service can be generated based on a default service.
  • The inspection is automatically closed.

Activity description

Main process: Report operations and inspections

Report work order operations and inspections when you have performed the required work. When you report back on operations, you record, for example, time spent on the operation and material usage. When you report back on inspections, you record inspection results.

Process variants

  1. Report Details of Operation―With Work Order

Report the details of a work order operation for a regular work order that exists before the actual work is performed. This would be the case for most planned work, such as normal maintenance.

  2. Report Details of Operation―Emergency Work Order

Use an emergency work order when you have performed the work before you have specified a work order in the system. This procedure allows you to create a retrospective work order and report time and materials directly. It is also possible to add materials and operations. The work order can then be set up to close automatically.

Create the retroactive work order in 'Work Request. Quick Entry' (MOS185).

  3. Report Details of Operation―Inspection

Report inspection operations when you have performed inspections on equipment and need to report the result and close the operation. Inspections can be, for example, taking temperature or pressure readings, measuring wear or recording usage.

Report inspection results in 'WO Operation. Report Inspection Result' (MOS085).

  4. Report Details of Operation―Repair Order

Report repair order operations when goods are returned and received by you. The repair order line is closed when you receive the goods in 'Purchase Order. Receive Goods' (PPS300).

A repair order is also used for services where people come in and do work. This would be the case when, for example, work is done on large equipment.

How repair orders are processed is determined by the repair order type selected for the work order type in 'Work Order Type. Open' (MOS120). Repair order types are defined in 'Purchase Order Type. Open' (PPS095).

  5. Report Details of Operation―Warranty Service

Report operations for warranty services in the same way as you report a regular operation. The warranty period is defined in 'Service. Open' (MOS300/H). The warranty record is created in 'Equipment. Connect Warranty' (MOS390).

  6. Report Details of Operation―Uninstall Equipment

Report operations for the uninstallation of equipment. It is possible to generate a default service, such as an inspection service, during operation reporting in 'WO Operation. Report' (MOS070).
