Identify Planned Operations for Estimate

This document explains how you identify work requests that require some form of estimate.

The document also explains how you define a view to display work requests for estimate, as well as and how you identify or create a work order for time reporting.

Outcome

The person responsible for estimating these requirements against the component in question has identified a work request connected to the job.

A work order for reporting time spent on investigating the job requirements is identified, if such a work order exists.

Before You Start

A work request with status Q0 must exist in 'Work Request. Open' (MOS170). The work request should be connected to a maintenance customer order in (COS100).

Follow These Steps

Define View for Status Selection

  1. Start 'Work Request. Open' (MOS170/B).

  2. Press F4=Browse twice in the 'View' field to display 'View. Open' (CRS020/B).

  3. Enter a view identity and the sorting order for which the view should be used. Select Create to display the E panel.

Sorting order 13 is recommended since it displays reference order number and category.

  4. Enter the field QOPSTS (status for work request) in the next free field in the list. Press Enter to display the F panel.

  5. Enter an optional description and a name. Press Enter to save.

Identify Planned Work for Estimate

  1. Start 'Work Request. Open' (MOS170/B).

  2. Select a view that displays work request status.

  3. Enter a range of status codes to display in the list. Press Enter to display the list of work requests that match the search criteria.

A range from status Q0 to status Q0 is recommended.

Identify Work Order for Time Reporting

This activity explains how you find out whether there is a work order defined to use to report time spent on investigating the requirements for the work request.

  1. Start 'Work Order. Open' (MOS100/B).

  2. Select sorting order 2 to sort the records by reference order category and number.

  3. Select reference order category 7 and enter the reference order number from the work request. Press Enter to display the result.

Any work order connected to the same maintenance customer order is displayed. A work order for time reporting would typically be defined as a general investigate type of service.

If no work order exists, you can create one from either (MOS170) or from the maintenance customer order in (COS101). It is also possible to report the time directly as a miscellaneous transaction in (COS170).

If you create a new work request in (MOS170), a new MCO line will be automatically created if you use a work order type with parameter 070 in 'Work Order Type. Open' (MOS120) set to 1.
