Releasing Work Requests
This document explains how you release work requests with planned work to convert them into work orders.
Use this instruction when you have estimated and planned your work request and want to select an appropriate way to convert it into a work order.
Outcome
The work request is converted into a work order and is moved to 'Work Order. Open' (MOS100). The work order(s) can be merged, printed and automatically closed after order release. These processes are described in a separate document.
The work request status is set to 60 when released. Status 65 is achieved briefly while the work request is being processed by the system.
The original work request is transferred from the (MWOPLP) file to the (MMOHED) file. A record is also created in 'Serialized Item. Open Service History' (MOS180), where it will be updated as the status of the work order changes.
The work order is used to report time and materials as work is performed.
Before you start
- The work request must exist in 'Work Request. Open' (MOS170).
- The user must be allowed to release work requests in 'Work Order Authorization. Open' (MOS175).
Description
Use these options to release work requests with planned work in order to get them converted into work orders.
-
Release work requests automatically
Work requests can be automatically released in two ways:
- If the equipment record is defined with continuous net change, and the planning policy defines that action message A2=60, the work request will be automatically released. This is done when the work request release date equals the current date.
- If 'Master Schedule. Regenerate' (MOS999) is run, all work requests that have reached their release dates and set their action messages to A2 are collected and released automatically.
-
Release work requests manually by fixed selection
This function allows you to select work requests based on a number of selection criteria. Among these are warehouse, equipment number, serial number, and service.
Use the fixed selection in 'Work Request. Open' (MOS170).
-
Release work requests manually by selection query
Work requests can be released manually after selection queries are run. The selection query is user defined and collects the work requests that match the search criteria. These work requests may then be released all at once.
Release work requests from 'Work Request. Open' (MOS170) or 'Work Request. Open Toolbox' (MOS197).
-
Release work requests manually by work scope
Work requests can be released by work scope. The work requests that are connected to a specific work scope can be released all at once.
Create and release work scopes in 'Work Request. Open' (MOS170).
-
Release work requests manually and individually
Work requests can be released individually and manually. This can be done from either 'Work Request. Open' (MOS170) or 'Work Request. Open Toolbox' (MOS197).
