Create Engineering Order Revision

This document explains how you define the information that is included in an engineering order (EO) revision header.

Use this instruction when you have registered the EO modification document and need to define the actual work to be performed.

Outcome

A revision-controlled EO header is defined. It contains information about the type of order, the document to which it is connected, and whether the order is mandatory.

Information about the EO revision header is stored in the following tables:

  • EO header (AOHEAD)
  • EO past number change (AOCHPN)
  • Valid facilities (AOEFAC)
  • Document (MPDDOC)
  • EO activity list (AODACT)

Use the EO revision header for the following activities:

  • Connect activities that must be performed before the engineering order can be released and planned work orders are created.
  • Connect an EO line to the EO header. The EO line contains the service revisions that need to be performed.
  • Generate an EO program and approve the connected activities.

Before you start

  • A modification document must be registered in 'Document. Open' (CRS230).
  • You must connect the effectivity to the document in order to define the components that are affected by the modification, in 'Document. Update Effectivity' (CRS257).

Follow These Steps

  1. Start 'EO Revision. Open' (ECS200/B).

  2. Set a panel sequence.

If an EO type with activities will be used, set the panel sequence to E1.

If no activities will be used, set the panel sequence to E.

  3. Select an appropriate sorting order.

The recommended alternatives are: 1=EO number, 9=Document ID.

  4. Create a new revision in one of the following ways:

    • Select Create to automatically create an EO revision ID.
    • Select Copy to create a new revision of an existing engineering order.
    • Manually enter an EO number and a revision number, and select Create.

If the EO number is left blank, it is automatically created according to the number series defined for the EO type (selected in ECS200/E).

Note: You must enter the revision number manually when you use the copy function.
  5. On the E panel, enter a document ID.

The source document must be linked to the engineering order, since it defines exactly which items or components are affected by the modification described in the document.

  6. Enter a description and, if applicable, a responsible person and a department.

  7. Specify whether the EO job is mandatory and enter an EO category.

EO categories are user-defined in 'Engineering Order Category. Open' (MOS230). They describe how an engineering order modification affects operations.

  8. Enter a priority and an EO class.

A priority between 1 and 9 can be entered. 1 is the highest priority.

EO classes are user-defined in 'Engineering Order Class. Open' (MOS235) and are used to classify major and minor influences.

  9. Specify whether the engineering order is repetitive, whether it should be automatically approved, and whether the engineering order involves an item number change.

If you select automatic approval for the engineering order, it is updated to closed (status 80) when the work order is closed. The modification is also automatically approved and a modification history record is created in (MOS260). The service history of the object is updated.

  10. Specify whether item and serial numbers are changed as a result of the modification.

Note: If the component receives a new item number and /or serial number as a result of a modification, the item number/serial number change should be defined in 'EO Revision. Open Component Modif Ref' (ECS212). You need to enter a record in this program even if the component keeps its item and serial number.
  11. Specify if the revision is retrospective.

If you select the check box, modifications performed using an earlier revision of the engineering order will not have to be performed again when the new revision is released to production.

  12. Enter, if applicable, a numbering system, function area, project number, and an EO group (can be defaulted from the document).

  13. Enter a document issuer.

A document issuer must be entered for external documents.

  14. Enter the latest performance date (can be defaulted from the document). Press Enter to display the revision screen 'EO Revise' (MOS201).

  15. Update the revision date and revised by, if applicable.

  16. Enter a revision reason. Press Enter to access the (ECS200) text blocks.

Additional revision reason text can be defined in the MOS201 text block.
