Maintenance Work Orders

The module is used for managing scheduled and unscheduled maintenance work orders.

Relationship

The module interacts with other modules such as purchase order, customer order, financial management, etc.

Internal relationship

The module includes six processes. The relationship between the processes is illustrated in the following diagram:

  1. Master Scheduling

    The purpose of master scheduling is to analyze and release work order proposals that have either been generated automatically or manually entered. See Master Scheduling.

  2. Order Preparation and Release

    The purpose of order preparation is to make any final adjustments to work orders before are released and made definite. See Order Preparation and Release.

  3. Detailed Scheduling

    The purpose of detailed scheduling is to ensure that orders released onto the shop floor are completed by the due date. This is achieved by detailed allocation of the different shop floor resources such as, people, machines, tools and material. See Detailed Scheduling.

  4. Data Collection and Monitoring

    The purpose of the this process is to gather all information pertaining to the work orders on the shop floor. See Data Collection and Monitoring.

  5. Control and Feedback

    The purpose of the process is to control problems that involve shop floor resources that are out of control. It also involves providing feedback to the persons responsible, both shop floor and administrative. See

  6. Work Order Closure

    The purpose of the process is transfer orders out of the maintenance activity control system. This includes relieving shop floor personnel of responsibility of the orders, and providing the system with information on which to evaluate performance. See Work Order Closure.
