Copy a Work Order to a Planned Work Order
This document explains how to copy an existing work order including manual changes to a
new planned work order (WO).
You can reuse a bill of material including operation elements, prepared for a similar job done before. This is very useful when doing similar jobs many times, and reduces the number of predefined services needed.
Outcome
A new planned WO with operations, operation elements, and materials is created based on the original work order.
Before you start
A work order with similar bill of material exists in 'Work Order. Open' (MOS100) or 'WO Material and Operations. Open' (MOS101).
Follow these steps
- Start (MOS100).
- Identify the work order that you want to use as a template, select it, and select
related option 42='Copy to Planned WO' to access the K panel. On this panel, you have some
selections:
- Facility
- If this is different than the facility in the original WO, a translation of work centers is done through consolidated work center and work center type.
- Service to use
- Usually, a generic service is used in this scenario
- WO type
- This is retrieved from the service by facility record, and can be overridden.
- Connect to MCO or work scope
- You can connect the new planned WO to an existing MCO or line, or let it be automatically created based on WO type settings.
- If reference order category is 0, the new planned WO can be connected to a work scope.
- Start date
- Auto release
- Select the check box if the planned WO should be released directly.
- Facility
- Press Enter.
A new planned WO is created based on the work order.
Limitations
There are some limitations to this functionality:
- Related services are not copied. If they are relevant for the new work to be done, they must be copied separately and created as standalone planned WOs.
- Work order texts from WO header, operations, and operation elements are not copied to the new planned WO.
- Plant maintenance position services are not supported.
