Managing Maintenance Customer Order Quotations

This document explains how you manage quotations for work that is created from maintenance customer orders.

The document describes two main quotation processes: one basic process that uses the existing service bill of material and one advanced process that is suitable for jobs that require estimation of time and material consumption.

Outcome

  • All operations and materials that are included in the work that is to be performed are registered.
  • The customer has approved or rejected the work that is to be performed, or has been performed, and has also approved or rejected the costs.

Uses

All approved work can be performed and invoiced.

How the system is affected

Refer to the documents listed in the See Also section for information about changes in M3.

Before you start

A maintenance customer order must exist in 'Maintenance Customer Orders. Open' (COS100) with one line in 'Maintenance Customer Orders. Open Line' (COS101).

Description

Use one of these options to manage quotations for work created from maintenance customer orders.

  • Managing basic quotations

Use this process to create quotations based on the operations and materials that are defined in the service bill of material of the requested job, or to create quotations against the planned WO/WO.

This process is suitable when you do not need support for the quotation workflow.

  • Managing advanced quotations

Use the advanced quotation process when you need support in the workflow. This process is suitable when the job that is to be performed requires estimation of the job content (either at the planned WO level and/or at the WO level). Various parts of your organization can use this to keep track of a job's location in the process.

For example, this process offers information about:

    • When different jobs require estimation
    • When the estimation process is completed and the result is confirmed by a manager
    • When a quotation is created and whether the customer has accepted it
