Order Preparation and Release
The purpose of the process is to review planned work orders. This is to ensure that they are correct, and to control the flow of orders allowed on the shop floor.
The process is finished once the status of the work order is updated to 20 (definite).

The process can be started when preliminary work orders exist in 'Work Order. Open' (MOS100).

Work Order Review
The work order review activity is fairly simple. It ensures that work orders are correct, especially with regards to date, and is necessary to guarantee the correctness of the work orders created from a workscope.
When the WO proposals are released, all services that belong to the same workscope and maintenance object are combined into a single work order. So where two disassemble operations may be required with two orders, when combined in this fashion, only one disassemble operation is necessary. This is illustrated in Example 1.

In Example 1, operation 10 is displayed twice, once for each planned WO. When a single work order is created, only one hour is required for the operation’s disassembly. If the load for the work center is checked before and after the work order is created, a decrease in the load can been seen.
When planned WOs are combined, operations may be in an illogical sequence. For example, in operation 20 (cleaning) is sequenced before operation 50 (replace). Part of the review process includes identifying these illogical sequences and resolving them. Using option 7 in 'Work Order. Open' (MOS100), the operation numbers can be changed to produce a more logical sequence such as illustrated in Example 2.

Work Order Release
When the order has been reviewed and any necessary changes made, the work order is released by manually changing the status from 10 to 20 (Preliminary > Definite).
When the status is updated to 20, a requisition order is created for the material needed in the order. The requisition order is created with the requisition type specified in the work order type. The date set equals the operation's start date.
When the status is changed, the work order is ready for detailed scheduling on work center level.
