Install and Remove Equipment

This procedure should be used when equipment is installed, removed or moved from or around the position and equipment structure.

A work request can be automatically generated when this process is carried out. This can be useful to track the repair of an equipment.

The result will be the removal and/or installation of a piece of equipment to or from a position or main equipment.

Before You Start

Before the procedure can begin, the following prerequisites must be met:

  • A valid order type must be defined in 'Removal/Installation Trans Type. Open' (MOS123).
  • A number system must be defined as type 98 in 'Number Series. Open' (CRS165).
  • The equipment must be defined in 'Equipment/Serialized Item. Open' (MMS240).
  • An alternate location must be defined in 'Stock Location. Open' (MMS010). Note: This is not a stock location, but a location to print a picking report.
  • A valid warehouse must be defined in 'Warehouse. Open' (MMS005).
  • A valid reason code must exist in 'Removal Reason. Open' (MOS126).

Follow These Steps

Follow the steps below to install or remove equipment.

Note: If this is accessed from 'Model/Site. Browse' (MOS446), a number of defaults will be automatically entered into (MOS125).
  1. Enter parameters in (MOS125). The parameters should contain the default order type and the default warehouse.

  2. Enter a reference number (Ref Order No.) if required. This could be the work order being used to move the equipment, for example. Note: the order type setup defined in (MOS123) will dictate which reference numbers are available when F4 is pressed. The field is mandatory if there is a reference number other than zero in (MOS123).

  3. The To Location will default from parameters 11 or 12 in (CRS788) (depending on the MOS123 order type setup). If these parameters are not defined then the location must be entered here.

  4. Enter the date that the movement was carried out in Trans Date. This is mandatory but can be defaulted via an F13 parameter.

  5. Enter the transaction time in Trans Time if required.

  6. Enter the Warehouse code. If no value is entered, a default will be used from an F13 parameter. The location above must exist in this warehouse.

  7. The reason code must be entered, a default can be defined against the order type in (MOS123).

  8. The movements process can have 3 main variants described below:-

  9. For removal of equipment:

    • All details will be defaulted if the equipment was selected from (MOS446)
    • If not, details of the site, next equipment number, next equipment serial number, equipment number and serial number must be entered
  10. For installation of equipment:

    • The position for installation should be highlighted in (MOS446), this will provide many of the defaults
    • If not, details of the site, next equipment number, next equipment serial number, equipment number, serial number and position must be entered
  11. For movement of equipment:

All details except for the position (or equipment) will be given automatically if making the movement using (MOS446). If not all the details suggested above for removal and installation must be entered manually.

  12. Press Enter to complete the procedure.
