Create Engineering Order Header

This document explains how you define the information that is included in an engineering order header.

Use this instruction when you have registered the engineering order document and need to define the actual work that is to be performed.

Outcome

An engineering order header is defined. This contains information about the type of order it is, the document it is connected to, whether the order is mandatory etc.

Use the engineering order header for the following activities:

  • Connect activities that must be performed before the engineering order can be released and planned work orders may be created.
  • Connect an EO line containing the service or services that need to be performed to the EO head.
  • To generate an engineering order program when the connected activities have been approved and a service been connected in the engineering order line.

Information about the engineering order header is stored in the following files:

  • Document (MPDDOC)
  • Engineering order activity list (MODACT)

Before You Start

The starting conditions listed in Defining Engineering Orders must be met.

Follow These Steps

  1. Start 'Engineering Order. Open' (MOS200/B).

  2. Specify a panel sequence.

If an EO type with activities is to be used the panel sequence should be E1.

If no activities are to be used the panel sequence should be E.

  3. Select an appropriate sorting order.

The recommended alternatives are: 1='EO number', 9='Document ID'.

  4. Specify the appropriate information depending on the selected sorting order and select New to display panel E.

  5. On panel E, specify the engineering order type and a revision number if applicable.

  6. Enter a description and if applicable, a responsible and a department.

  7. Specify whether the EO job is mandatory and an EO category.

EO categories are user-defined in 'Engineering Order Category. Open' (MOS230) and used to describe how the modification affects operations. Examples are safety, comfort and performance.

  8. Specify a priority and an EO class.

A priority between 1 and 9 may be specified. 1 is the highest priority.

EO classes are user-defined in 'Engineering Order Class. Open' (MOS235) and are used to classify for example major and minor influences.

  9. Specify whether the engineering order is repetitive, whether it should be automatically approved and whether the engineering order involves an item number change.

If set to automatic approval, the engineering order is updated to closed (status 80) when the work order is closed. The modification is also automatically approved and the object's service history is updated.

If the maintenance object receives a new item number as a result of the modification, the item number change should be defined in 'Eng Order. Open Component Modif Ref' (MOS212). Note that a record must be created in (MOS212) iven if the item number is not affected.

  10. Specify, if applicable, a numbering system, function area, project number and an EO group.

  11. Specify a document id and a document issuer.

A document issuer must be entered for external documents.

  12. Specify a document object and a latest performance date (optional). Press Enter to finish and return to panel B or to display panel 'Engineering Order. Open Activity List' (MOS202).

Approve Engineering Order Activities

If the EO type used is connected to activities, these are copied down to the new engineering order. These activities are preliminary and need to be activated.

  1. On panel (MOS202/B), select and open the displayed activity to display panel E.

  2. On panel E, specify a responsible, a planned finish date and set the status. Press Enter to finish.

The status should be set to 10='Preliminary activity' if the activity is to remain active and be possible to approve.

Add Activities to Engineering Order

  1. On panel (MOS202/B), select a predefined activity and select New to display panel E.

  2. On panel E, specify a responsible and a planned finish date. Press Enter to finish.
