7. Description of costing operators

The table below lists and describes each costing operator that you can select for a costing element. For calculation operators, the resulting value is either added or deducted, depending on whether the Markup check box is selected for the costing element on 'Costing Element. Open' (PPS280/E).

Practically all costing operators can be used in both purchase costing and distribution costing. The only exceptions are costing operators 13 and 14, which are reserved for distribution costing.

No. Name Description Uses
00 Running total (display operator)

This operator serves as a subtotal that displays the costing value reached so far for the costing elements above in the costing model.

A costing element with this operator can be added before or after a costing element representing the inventory cost (operator 99) in the costing model.

Operators 01–03 enable discounts to be displayed separately.

For display of duty based on landed cost (for example, goods, freight and handling), in combination with operator 06.

01 Gross costing base (display operator)

This operator indicates the gross costing base used for operator 04 without any discounts deducted.

For information about costing bases, see section 6.

Operators 01–03 enable discounts to be displayed separately.
02 Net costing base (display operator)

This operator calculates the net costing base by deducting all discounts from the gross costing base (retrieved from a costing element with operator 01).

A costing element with this operator can be used in combination with operator 05.

Operators 01–03 enable discounts to be displayed separately.
03 Supplier discount (display operator) This operator displays the sum of all discounts expressed as an amount. The value is the difference between the gross costing base (from operator 01) and the net costing base (from operator 2). Operators 01–03 enable discounts to be displayed separately.
04 Percent of gross costing base (calculation operator This operator multiplies the gross costing base (see operator 01) with a percentage. Displays overhead as a percentage of the price.
05 Percent of net costing base (calculation operator) This operator multiplies the net costing base (see operator 02) with a percentage.
06 Percent of net value or running net value (calculation operator) This operator multiplies the value retrieved from all previous costing elements in the costing model with a percentage.

Displays duty costs in combination with operator 00, for example.

Displays packaging costs. (The preferred operator if the costs are small and the volumes high. Compare operator 25.)

Displays overhead as a percentage of the price.

07 Price per kilo – gross weight (calculation operator) This operator multiplies the rate selected for the costing element with the total gross weight in kilograms. The weight is retrieved from 'Item. Open' (MMS001/F). Displays freight and carriage costs. Suitable for heavy items individually packaged.
08 Price per kilo – net weight (calculation operator) This operator multiplies the rate selected for the costing element with the total net weight in kilograms. The weight is retrieved from (MMS001/F). Displays freight and carriage costs as well as costs for palletization for heavy items packaged as a batch
09 Price per volume (calculation operator) This operator multiplies the rate selected for the costing element with the total volume in the basic unit of measure (U/M). The volume is retrieved from 'Item. Open' (MMS001/F). Displays freight and carriage costs for bulky but light items. Displays packaging costs for bulky items.
10 Price per order quantity in the basic U/M (calculation operator) This operator multiplies the rate selected for the costing element with the order quantity in the basic U/M that is defined on (MMS001/E).
11 Price per order quantity in the PO's standard U/M (calculation operator)

This operator multiplies the rate selected for the costing element with the order quantity in the U/M of the purchase order.

The calculation is always based on the standard PO U/M defined for the item on (MMS001/F), regardless of whether an individual purchase order line has an alternate U/M.

12 Price per order quantity in the purchase price U/M (calculation operator) This operator multiplies the rate selected for the costing element with the order quantity in the U/M in which the purchase price is expressed, regardless of whether an individual purchase order line has an alternate U/M. The purchase price U/M is defined for the item on (MMS001/F).
13 Price based on distance between warehouses (calculation operator) This operator multiplies the rate selected for the costing element with the transport distance defined in 'Distribution Relation. Open' (DPS001). For distribution costing only.
14 Price per distribution cost multiplier

This operator multiplies the rate selected for the costing element with the distribution cost multiplier defined in (DPS001). For distribution costing only.

For example, the transport cost from warehouse B to warehouse C requires a different delivery method than used when transporting the item from warehouse A, resulting in double the cost. The distribution cost multiplier for the combination of warehouses A and C in (DPS001) is 1. For warehouses B and C the multiplier is 2 instead, since the cost is the double.

Used as an additional way to distinguish distribution costs depending on optional factors.
15 Price base for settlement This operator can be used instead of operator 01 or 02. The operator facilitates calculation of quantity as well as price. Can be used where price is not available to the procurement process and is typical of costing model configurations required by the Grower Contract Management (GCM) module.
16 Costing sub-model This operator points to a secondary or sub costing model. It can be used either to display or include in the main cost model the whole or part of the sum of the elements in the sub model.
17 Price per user-defined field 2 This operator multiplies the rate selected for the costing element by the user-defined field 2 on (MMS001/G) together with the ordered quantity in the basic U/M.
20 Fixed amount (calculation operator) This operator is a fixed amount per order head or order line. Displays a fixed overhead cost.
21 Setup price (calculation operator) This operator divides the setup price that is defined as a cost per purchase order line on 'Purchase Agreement. Open Lines (PPS101/E) with the order quantity. Displays material overhead with order-initiated share of purchase costing for an A costing component with cost driver 41 in the product costing model.
22 Ordering cost (calculation operator) This operator divides the ordering cost on 'Item. Connect Facility' (MMS003/E) with the order quantity. If an ordering cost is missing for the item, the cost is retrieved from 'Settings – Ordering Cost' (CRS730). The ordering cost is the fixed cost that arises each time an item is purchased or distributed. Displays an overhead cost per item and facility.
25 Fixed amount per order quantity. This operator is a fixed charge amount, but in the cost accounting it is divided by the order quantity on 'Item. Connect Warehouse' (MMS002/F).

Displays the cost for:

– Palletization of a batch

– Insurance inspection by batch

– Packaging of an entire order. (If costs are small and volumes high, use operator 05 instead.)

– Batch processing.

26 Minimum price This operator facilitates a minimum price in a settlement calculation. If the price calculates below this minimum it is replaced by the price of this operator. The operator requires a quantity calculation as well as the minimum price Typically used in costing model configurations required by the Grower Contract Management (GCM) module.
27 Maximum price This operator facilitates a maximum price in a settlement calculation. If the price calculates above this maximum it is replaced by the price of this operator. The operator requires a quantity calculation as well as the maximum price. Typically used in costing model configurations required by the Grower Contract Management (GCM) module.
99 Grand total for accounting (display operator) This operator displays the costing value so far, including all previous costing element values in the costing model. Used as the inventory value for standard costed items as well as a basis for the calculation of weighted cost price and direct material.
