Multiple Equipment Lives by Period or Division

Abstract

The purpose of this functionality is to support the process for Equipment Profitability Portal (EPP) including multiple equipment lives.

Background

An equipment can have one or several lives. When a major overhaul is done a new life can be started. To be able to record the life and the date when it happens, new fields are introduced in the serial number file. A new program is created where a new life can be started and it also includes a record of the previous life. You can add a transaction reason, a description and a text to each life. The current life for a transaction will be transferred to the EPP which holds a record of financial transactions for equipment.

Limitations

This automated functionality will only work if you use the predefined accounting model with model type=1 including creating the model lines with F14 in (CAS391).

Also you must select "Life" when creating the model lines in (CAS391) in order to get "Life" as accounting objects on the lines in dimension 8.

The item must be set up as equipment in (MOS400) and 'Account mdl unused' is not checked in order to be included in the accounting model transactions in the Equipment Profitability.

This functionality for "Life" will only work for serialized items (lot control method=2) and if "Life" is updated for your item/serial number in (MMS225).

Concept description

The field "Life" is added to the balance table CAABAL and will be populated via program CRTVACC which is called from program CAS070. Accounting object for "Life" is added to all transactions that have lot number (BANO/SERN) as a dynamic accounting object in the accounting model.

The "life" field will be found in the tables MILOIN/MLLIFE in column LIFE.

In (CAS391) when you create the standard model and its lines, you have to select if you want to use "Product Group" or "Life" in dimension 8 of the CAABAL table.

Depending of what you select you will automatically have different dynamic accounting objects added to the standard model lines in order to retrieve the correct information in the CAABAL table.

How to Use

  1. Run (CAS950) and transfer the account entries to FIM for the actual period.

  2. Transfer the account entries from the invoicing functions in (COS196), (OIS196) and (SOS196), if the account entries not are directly transferred to FIM.

  3. Enter (CAS340) and select the period, balance key=2, accounting model and column template

  4. Mark the actual line (on the lowest level of the balance key), to see balance details, and use related option 12 to get to (CAS090), the Balance table.

  5. Mark the actual line, to see the transactions, and use related option 11 in (CAS090) to get to (CAS095), the Accounting transactions.

  6. To see further details, use related options in (CAS095), according to below

    11= Dsp source

    12=Dsp order lines

    13=Agreement

Outcome

  • (CAS095) "Analytical Acc Transactions. Display" is updated with the transactions which are the base for the Equipment Profitability.
  • (CAS090) "Analytical Acc Balance File. Display" is updated with the balances of the account entries in the Equipment Profitability.
  • (CAS340) "Analytical Acc Aggregated Balance. Dsp" is updated with the aggregated balances of the account entries in Equipment Profitability.

Setup

  • Select parameter 290 "Accounting Model is used" in (CAS900)
  • Create an accounting model in (CAS390) with model with type 1 which is a predefined accounting model. Set "Content column value 8" to 2 to get "Life" in the accounting model.
  • Update the column headings of the predefined accounting model dimensions in (CAS390/E) according to below:
    1. Item

    2. Serial no

    3. Origin ID

    4. Customer

    5. Agreement

    6. Order no

    7. Budget ID

    8. Life

    9. Struct level

    10. Highest level

  • Set up the column templates in (CAS085) (see NCR 4966 for set up) to be used in (CAS340)
