Accepting Customer Payments

This document explains how you manage and write off differences between a customer payment and the corresponding invoice records.

Outcome

Payment differences are accepted and written off. An accounting journal and a customer payment journal are printed.

The general ledger and accounts receivable are updated. For information on transactions created, see the documents listed in the See Also section.

Before you start

  • The starting conditions listed in Allocating Customer Payments to Invoice must be met.
  • There must be an outstanding customer invoice with a variance in payment received.
  • A customer payment must be recorded.
  • For other starting conditions, see the respective instruction.

Follow These Steps

  1. Manually Write Off Customer Payment Difference

You can manually write off payment differences and apply the write-off to a specific invoice or a customer. You do this in 'Payment Received. Record' (ARS110).

  2. Automatically Write Off Customer Payment Difference

You can automatically write off small payment differences by applying user-defined payment tolerances. This is done in (ARS110).

  3. Accept Cash Discount for Customer Payment

Manage any deductions the customer has made due to agreed cash discount in (ARS110).

  4. Automatic Acceptance of Currency Deviation

Exchange rate differences between local and foreign currency are automatically managed and posted in M3.
