Attribute Model Overview

Attribute Model Overview is an M3 Experience Designer application that provides a single place to view and manage attributes. It consolidates attribute-related information, such as model lines, values, priorities, default values, and language descriptions, into one screen so that you can easily view and manage attribute setups. The application includes a list of available attribute models and several detailed grids and toolbar actions. You can review key details about an attribute model and access related actions by using the data grids and toolbar actions.

User stories

Product managers and other roles that are responsible for managing attributes need a platform that enables them to view and manage connected attributes, priorities, and default settings for attribute models.

M3 Business Engine configuration

M3 Business Engine (BE) configuration is required for the Attribute Model Overview application to function properly. You must set up attribute models in 'Attribute Model. Open' (ATS050) to display data in the application.

See specific configurations per component in Components section.

Application authorization

You must have authorization to use the required M3 BE functions and API transactions before you access and run the M3 Experience Designer application.

How to use the application

The Attribute Model Overview application provides a consolidated view of attribute models and values. You can select attribute models, view connected attributes, and manage attribute values, defaults, and language-specific descriptions.

Browse and select an attribute model

Use the index list to filter and select an attribute model. Specify a value in the search field and press Enter or use the lookup. When you select a model from the list, the data is loaded in Model Lines and Model Language data grids.

Review connected attributes

In Model Lines, an overview of the attributes connected to the selected model is provided. The overview includes 'Attribute ID', 'Text', 'Attribute Type', 'Sequence Number', and 'Default Value', and shows additional information such as the display group and controlling object. Use sort and filter in the column headers to navigate the list. When you select a model line, the Manage attribute matrix toolbar button is enabled, and, when you click the button, 'Attribute Matrix. Open' (ATS020) opens.

View attribute values

The Attribute Values data grid shows attribute values, such as sequence number, attribute value ranges, numeric multiples, and discontinued date for the selected model line. When you select a model line in Model Lines, the data grid is populated. Use sort and filter in the column headers to navigate the list.

Manage default values

Priority and Priority Default Values provide an overview of the priority and default values that are defined for the attribute. To view the default values, select a record in Priority data grid, and the associated default values are listed in the Priority Default Values data grid. Select another record in the Model Lines data grid to view default values for other attributes.

To manage default values, click Manage default values on the toolbar to open 'Attribute Matrix. Enter Default Values' (ATS030).

Manage language descriptions

The Model Language data grid shows a list of language‑dependent descriptions related to the selected attribute model. Use this data grid to view language details and access the 'Attribute Model. Enter Name/Languages' (ATS053) through the Manage model language button on the toolbar to manage language-dependent descriptions.

Manage attribute model

In the application header, you can access related programs to manage the selected attribute model, view where the attribute model is used, and manage connected attributes by using these toolbar buttons:
  • Manage Attribute Model: Opens (ATS050).
  • Where used: Opens 'Config Comp Analysis. Display Where-used' (PDS630).
  • Connect Attributes: Opens 'Attribute Model. Connect Attributes' (ATS051).
