Equipment Reservation and Allocation

Using a quotation, you can reserve and allocate equipment in stock.

An allocation on the quotation reserves the equipment so that it is not available for sale through a customer sales order, for move with a distribution order or requisition order, or for other available transactions.

  1. When the serial number of an item is associated with a quotation line, a reservation is created. If you manually add the serial number of an item to the quotation line, then a reservation is also created.
  2. The equipment stays reserved on a quotation until you manually remove the serial number reference on the quotation line. In this case, the reservation is automatically moved from the earlier connected equipment to the new equipment. In addition, if a new version of the quote is created, then the reservation is moved to this new version.
  3. When a quotation is approved and processed into an order, the reservation is transferred to the customer order or, if it is created, the work order.

Equipment on a purchase order and without a serial number can be connected and reserved to a quotation.
