Information Browser Categories

In this document the creation of the information browser category that controls the data that will be displayed in 'Information Browser. Open' (CMS100) is described.

Outcome

Information browser categories are defined in 'Information Browser Category. Open' (CMS010). The actual data to display is retrieved from the master table selected for the information browser category in this program. All sorting will be based on that master table (an Xtend M3 table can also be used as a master table).

Follow these steps

  1. To use an information browser category in (CMS100), this must be activated first in (CMS010) by selecting alternative 7='Activate'.
  2. Select from these alternatives which can be used for the information browser categories:
    • Deactivate an information browser category: Use alternative 8='Deactivate'.
    • Manage related tables. Use alternative 11='Related tables'.

      See Manage Related Tables.

    • Manage virtual fields. Use alternative 12='Virtual fields'.

      See Manage Virtual Fields.

    • Manage related options and set up a related option for each information category: Use alternative 13='Related options'. See specific chapter on related options.
    • Manage available fields: Use alternative 21='Field group'.

      See Field Group.

    • Manage views: Use alternative 22='View'.

      See Manage Views.

    • Manage sorting orders: Use alternative 23='Sorting Order'.

      See Manage Sorting Orders.

    • Design and simulate the list: Use alternative 24='Simulate list'.
    • When selecting 'Simulate list', the program for customer list design is opened. This offers a preview of the selected list and design throughout (CMS100).
    • Export configuration: Use alternative 27=' Export Configuration'.

By exporting the configuration, you can save or transfer the settings of a printer file or list program. Use alternative 27='Export Configuration' and specify the file name and version number of the configuration.

    • Locate the file by opening 'Configuration Data Jobs. Open' (MNS200): Use sorting order 4, then specify the file name and start date. Use alternative 20='Display XML file' to download the XML file as a compressed zip file.
Note: Information browser categories starting with M3 in (CMS010) are standard configurations included in M3 Experience Designer applications delivered by Business Engine. You are not allowed to change or delete these or the related information such as views and sorting orders. Instead, you can make a copy of it to make changes.
