Define XML File

This document explains how you configure the XML file. Infor delivers a standard configuration including a subset of fields based on the standard tables used in the print function (standard tables are tables which are always read by the output function).

The number of tables may vary depending on the printer file type classification. An error message is displayed at 'XML Section. Open Table' (CMS008) and 'Related Tables. Connect' (CMS011) when the maximum limit of tables connected is reached.
Note:  All these tables must be connected to the structure 'XML Structure. Open Section' (CMS007) and an element should be added in 'XML Structure Section. Open Element' (CMS009).
  • Documents: Uses one hundred and forty (140) tables, where seventy (70) are allotted for both custom section tables and related tables and another seventy (70) are allotted for section tables declared through the metadata.
  • Reports: Uses eighty (80) tables, where twenty (20) are allotted for both custom section tables and related tables and another sixty (60) more tables are allotted for section tables and related tables.

Limitations

The field length can only be increased, never decreased.

Before you start

Based on existing printer functions, configurable XML files can be generated as an alternative to streamfiles. To determine if a streamfile or a configurable XML is generated, you can check the settings based on these programs:

  • (MNS204) – Printer file and/or user
  • (CRS945) – Control object
Note: If a configurable view is used in the XML generation process, you can increase the length of item description fields. See Manage Field Lengths using (CRS735). Also, Cloud File Transfer (CFT) is needed or should be enabled to save, view, and read XML or CSV files.
