MAI - Archiving Meter Readings History

This document explains how to archive meter reading history that is no longer needed. This process reduces the database size and enhances performance.

Outcome

  • Meter reading history transactions are archived in a designated library.
  • The original records are removed from 'Model/Site Individual.Open Operation History' (MOS270). Archived records are stored in MVXARCH.

Before you start

  • Open 'Table Analyzer.Open' (AMS050) to check the number of records in the live database for the tables MROOPC and MROOPM ((MOS270) and 'Model/Site Individual. Open Op cycle readings' (MOS271)). Use F14='Generate' to retrieve the latest information, including the details of the last archive run with the number of records archived.
  • Configure the settings for meter reading archiving for 'Model/Site. Operation History' (MOS279) in 'Archiving. Open Toolbox' (AMS100). We recommend setting 'Arch log table' to 3 to obtain counts for both the main table and the secondary table.
  • We also recommend setting up 'Job.Connect Job Queue' (MNS310) for the MOS279Sbm job. This triggers the display of a pop-up box when initiating the archiving process. Set 'Confirm Job Start' to 2. With this configuration, you get a pop-up box displaying the number of records to be archived, allowing you to verify the selected data.

Limitations

  • You must not archive meter readings for rental purposes in 'Meter.Display Update History' (STS330) using this function. Archiving rental meter readings may prevent you from making corrections to an (STS330) record. Exercise caution to avoid archiving recent or fresh data.
  • For plant maintenance scenarios and other 'As-built' scenarios, this function does not archive meter readings directly reported on installed equipment. Only records associated with planning positions or specific items and serials selected are archived.

Follow these steps

Specifying selection type:

  1. Begin by opening (MOS279).
  2. Use F13='Settings' to access the settings. In the Display Model Individual section, you have two options:
    • If unchecked, make selections based on the Original ID or Item and Serial number in combination with a date range.
    • If checked, make selections based on Regno/Site and configuration position.

Starting the archiving process:

  1. After making your selections, press Enter.
  2. If (MNS310) is configured as described above, a pop-up box appears, displaying the number of records found in the selection.
  3. Click Yes to initiate the archiving process.

Analyzing the results:

  1. Perform a before-and-after analysis to ensure that the archiving was executed correctly.
  2. Use the Experience designer Archiving Workbench or 'Archiving.Open Toolbox' (AMS100) to manage the archiving results.
