Configuring a new SWB user using a non-standard configuration
- On the server, copy a data directory from an existing user to a new directory. You must ensure that the user you copy from is not using SWB while the data directory is copied. The new data directory must have the name that matches the %USERNAME% of the new user. For the first user, copy from the directory named Manufacturing, depending on the installed industry.
- You must create a unique ION API credential file for the new user. Do not use the same ION API credential file for multiple users.
- You must start SWB using the customer-specific ini-file.
- Go to System > System Information > File location, and ensure the new user uses the data directory created for that user.
- Go to System > Parameters > Database, and paste the ION API JSON text from the clipboard. Click Test Logon, and verify that the test logon succeeds. Verify the M3 BE username and Tenant ID. Click OK to save the ION API credentials for the user.
-
Go to System > Parameters > Database, and update the warehouse group, horizon, and division to match
the user’s values.
Note: If the customer has parameter file modifications, you must minimize or remove them using existing SWB functionality. SWB functionality has been developed to replace parameter file modifications with SWB configuration. If different facilities require different parameter file modifications, we recommend combining all modifications into one parameter file. Use additional environment variables in the parameter file to control which modifications are active for each user or facility. You can define these in System > Parameters > Environment Variables > Additional environment variables.
