SWB on a remote desktop
To set up for multiple users, see On-premise server install.
Certified platforms
SWB is certified for specific operating systems, but not for specific virtualization platforms. The reason is that there are too many combinations to certify or validate.
Most virtualization vendors guarantee that applications that run in a built-in environment also run in a virtualized copy of that environment. Many Infor customers run SWB in virtualized environments. However, Infor does not define recommendations for virtualized environments.
There are many possible configurations of virtualized environments. You must consider access rights, load balancing, display properties, and resource mapping as part of the setup and configuration of the virtualized environment.
Infor Product Development (IPD) has no knowledge of any known issues as of July 2025 for SWB, Citrix, and WMS/WTS.
Setup and license considerations
- You must set up the SWB application as a published application.
- Each user must have a dedicated user data directory.
- Each user must have create, read, update, and delete (CRUD) access to their data directory.
- The ini-file defines which data directory is used.
- The system creates licenses for the user who runs the application.
- The system bases licenses on user ID and machine ID.
- Virus scan running on the SWB data directory can affect performance.
Master/Viewer setup
If you want to use the Master/Viewer setup, we recommend that an experienced SWB consultant perform this setup because SWB modifications are required.
