Setting up M3 Business Engine

You must configure certain programs in M3 BE to set up the connection and layout of the reports.

  1. In M3 BE 15.1.2 or a later version, activate Report Manager by selecting field 408 – Report Manager in MNS100 (K-panel).
  2. Create Servers in MNS218. Specify this information to define the Report Manager server:
    Server address
Specify the IP address of the server to be used.
    Server location
Specify the location where the server resides.
  3. Create Services in MNS216.
    1. Define the services for Report Manager. If different ports are used for separate environments, you must define all of these services in MNS216. Service definitions apply to all companies and divisions in the environment.

In a typical installation, you define two services, MRM and MRMADHOC, for TEST and PRODUCTION environments. You must control these to different ports of the Report Manager server.

    2. Specify this information in MNS216:
      Service type
Specify a Service type ID that is set up with Interface STREAM in MNS217.
      Server ID
Specify the server that you created in MNS218.
      Port no
Specify 20103 for normal Streamfiles, which is the same port number that is set up in STMF port monitor. Specify 20104 for Adhoc reports , which is the same port number that is set up in Adhoc port monitor.
  4. Create Output Server Definition in MNS204. Specify the service from MNS216 to which an output should be directed.
  5. Create Output Media Selection in MNS205. Specify the destination to which the output should be sent when it reaches the Report Manager server. This information may be the destination email address or the default output format, such as Excel and PDF.

In M3 BE 15.1.2 or a later version, the output format is indicated by the File type field where you can select PDF, Excel, or both.

In M3 BE 14.1.2 and 15.1.1, the output format is indicated by the Modification field where you can specify EXCEL, PDF, or EXCEL, PDF. If this field is left blank, the default output format is PDF.

  6. Create M3 Report Manager users in MNS425.

In M3 BE 15.1.2 or a later version, you can create M3 Report Manager users in MNS425. In this program, you can configure which users are administrators and the appropriate menu versions. If the M3 user is not configured in MNS425, the user is classified as a regular user in M3 Report Manager.

In M3 BE 14.1.2 and 15.1.1, configuration is done in M3 Report Manager Client.
