Performance

Import performance in PWB depends on the volume of imported data. These imports typically have the greatest impact on performance:
  • Orders, operations, and materials
  • Item warehouses
  • External sales
  • External purchases

When you initialize a plan in PWB, review the import activities to identify which import requires the most time. You can also import data one activity at a time to determine which import has the longest run time.

To analyze import performance, record performance data in the trace log:

  1. Go to System > Parameters > Database.
  2. Specify 2 in Temporary trace log level.
  3. Run a full data import.
  4. Go to System > View MI Trace File to open the trace file.
  5. Search for Total execute time(ms) to review the execution time for each MI call.

Imports for orders, operations, and materials often require more time because of large data volumes. To reduce the amount of imported data, review the order selection horizon in System > Parameters > Database.

The Import forecast parameter for external requirements can also affect performance. We recommend that you clear this parameter unless forecast data is required.
