Schedule Versions

The Schedule Version component shows the schedule versions. You can define up to 98 versions. A schedule version is a complete set of data files. Each schedule has its own version number. The first version is the main version that is used for creating a plan.

You can shift between different schedule versions and create versions. You can define multiple schedule versions mainly for these reasons:

  1. You can use schedule version for simulation.
  2. You can temporarily save schedule versions.
  3. You can save backups of the authentic schedule version.
  4. You can define a setup for the Master/Viewer environment. In this setup, the master creates the plan and the viewer shows the latest published version.

You can perform these tasks:

  • Copying schedule versions
  • Zipping schedule versions
  • Publishing schedule versions

If Schedule Version Sharing has been installed, then these tasks are also available:

  • Import schedule versions
  • Export schedule versions
  • Set default schedule versions

Copying schedule versions

You can copy information between versions to create a back-up of the plan and simulate different scenarios. Copying schedule version is also useful in setting up the viewer to publish a plan that is copied from the planner. You can specify the source version and the destination version for the copy.

Zipping schedule versions

You can zip the selected data versions and include information about the selected settings and used control files. If you require assistance from Infor support or to assist a customer in analyzing their data long distance, this feature is particularly useful.

  1. Select the versions to be zipped and click Zip. If you have selected only one schedule version and no control, the macro and panel files must be included in the ZIP file.

On Save As, the default ZIP file name is displayed. The default file name is Z_DATAxx.ZIP, where xx is the schedule version number. If you accept this name, then the ZIP file can be unzipped directly by the planning application.

  2. To protect the unzipping of the file with a password, select Password and specify a password.
  3. Optionally, you can include control files, macro files, and panel files.

Publishing schedule versions

The Master/Viewer environment allows to perform these actions:

  • You can create the optimal production plan according to the constraints.
  • You can distribute the newest version of this plan to different groups of viewers who are responsible for its execution.

Viewers can view the plan and could be in sales, purchasing or executing in production.

After the planner, that is, the master user, has created a new plan, the published version is available to all the viewers. Viewers always start working with the newest published version. If a new version is published while a viewer is active, the viewer is notified and can decide to change to the newest published version instantly or wait until later.

The Master/Viewer environment is detailed in a separate concept document.

Note: Master/Viewer environment is deactivated when Schedule Version Sharing has been installed. In this case, import/export/default schedule version as described below should be used instead.

Import schedule versions

You can import Schedule Versions from these data folders:

  • User data folder
  • Shared data folder
  • Base data folder
  • Backup data folder

Base data folder contains schedule version delivered with system. Shared data folder is where different users export their schedule versions, this can be relevant if a user temporary is absent due to sickness etc. and then another user can import schedule version and do scheduling instead for that warehouse group. User data folder contains the users own schedule versions. Backup data folder contains schedule version which has been backed up.

Export schedule versions

You can export Schedule Versions to the same four data folders.

Note: Export of schedule version can also be part of work flow. One possibility is after accepting plan in SWB and export plan to BE, then add an automatic export schedule version to shared data folder. This ensures that there is always a latest schedule version for each user in shared data folder.

Set default schedule versions

New users automatically get default schedule version. When the work flow has been modified according to a company requirement, then that company relevant schedule version can be exported and then set as new default schedule version. The benefit is that, afterwards, the new user gets a default schedule version which is relevant for that company.
