Alias

Use the Alias field for calls to open a page or portlet, or to listen to a portlet. The call to open functionality is relevant for pages and portlets placed in hidden folders. When the alias is defined for a page or portlet within a hidden folder, a portlet within another page can use that alias to call for the page or portlet to open. For example, to access an edit item page, that is placed in a hidden folder, click the Edit item button in an item list portlet.

The alias can be used by a portlet to listen to another portlet. For example, a portlet can listen to a search portlet where the results from the search portlet are used as criteria to filter the content in a list.

For the call to open functionality, we recommended that you add the alias to a page. For the listen to functionality, the alias must be added to a portlet.
