Configurations

A configuration is a function that controls the content, the visual presentation, and the functionality of a field. Several configurations can be assigned to a field. There are also configurations that can be added to a parameter without being connected to a field. These control the general characteristics of a portlet. Most configurations require a set of arguments as input. The field-configuration-argument combination is written in the format: FIELD[CONFIGURATION(ARGUMENT)].

Examples of configurations that are added without being connected to a field are these:

• ORDER_BY(), used to sort a list in a portlet
• LIST_CAPTION(), used to replace the title of a list
• PAGESIZE(), used to define the number of lines presented for each page in a list
