Roles

M3 Portals uses the user roles to manage what content each user can see and access.

In M3 Portals user administration, you can create new roles and delete roles that are not assigned to any user. To create a new role, click the Add role button from the toolbar, and specify a name. The name of the role must be descriptive because the role definition includes only this name.

Drag and drop the roles in the Roles list to change their order. The order of the roles in the list determines their priority, which is relevant for users that are assigned to several roles. If a user opens a page that is defined for more than one role assigned to the user, the priority determines which role to use. This determines which portlet configuration is to be used. The order of the roles also affects the order in which they are presented in the lists used to select roles.
