Buckets

IPW displays the material plan in buckets, showing the projected on-hand balance (POHB) for a specific date and time. MMS080 displays the same material plan, but as transactions with a date and time when a transaction occurs.

MMS080 displays the material plan over time, starting with the on-hand balance (OHB). Each record for supply or demand displays the material quantity and the new POHB, with a date and time.

IPW displays the material plan in buckets, with the POHB column showing the planned on-hand balance at that specific date and time.

  • POHB (end of bucket) = POHB (start of bucket) + summed supply – summed demands

The POHB column defines the end date and time of a bucket, while the previous POHB column defines the start date and time of that bucket. IPW calculates the summed supply and demands for each bucket, such as transactions occurring from the start to the end of the bucket. The date and time of each supply or demand in MMS080 determine which bucket in IPW it is included in.

These are the standard setups for the first three bucket columns:

  1. POHB (Planned on-hand balance at that date and time)

If demand or supply occurs on the same date and time as the OHB column, it affects the POHB value at that date and time. Therefore, it is included in the bucket that ends at that date and time.

  2. Supply (Supplies between the start of the bucket and the end of the bucket)

You can make decisions in cells for a bucket covering several days. You can define the date and time of these decisions. For example, the order date and time are defined as an offset from the bucket end. In Data Retrieval 1 > Order and planned order end offset, you can select the number of hours before the end of the bucket to plan the date and time when creating a new manufacturing order.

  3. Demand (Demands between the start of the bucket and the end of the bucket)

Some API transactions for supplies and demands have a date, but the time is not defined. You can define the time for these supplies or demands. For example, the forecast time is defined in Data Retrieval 1 > Forecast demand time.

Note: If a supply or demand has a transaction time of 00:00 and the POHB also has a time of 00:00, then the transaction affects the POHB and is included in the previous bucket.

There are several methods for setting up buckets:
