Decisions
You can use this setting to control the way decisions are applied in the application.
- From the menu, select Settings > Decisions.
-
To enable decisions in the application, select from the
applicable decision types:
- Manufacturing decisions
- Forecast decisions
- Purchase decisions
Note: You must be linked to IPW roles, IPWPLANNER or IPWADMIN, in (MNS410) to enable the decision. Alternatively, a PIN code is required when enabling decisions if IPW roles are not used. -
Specify this information:
- Manufacturing decisions
- Select the check box to take decision on manufacturing orders. You must have an IPW Planner or IPW User role to have a specified Decision PIN Code under Tools.
- Base manufact decisions on prod start
- Supply decisions are taken in the production start column. Aging and other lead time elements can create an offset from production start to supply time.
-
Note: Decisions on production start are committed as released MO.
You cannot take Forecast decisions when the base manufacturing decision on production start is selected because the supply decisions (MO) and demand decisions (Forecast) affect different dates. To take demand and supply decisions at the same time, you must not select this parameter.
You must select Include production start on Data retrieval.
- Purchase decisions
- Select the check box to take a decision on purchase orders. You can take decisions on planned purchase orders. You can also take decisions on released purchase order lines if the status is LE 15 and there is only one PO line in a supply cell. You must have an IPW Planner role to have a specified Decision PIN Code under Tools.
- Base purchase decisions on release date
-
Supply decisions are taken in the release date column. Purchase lead time and other lead time elements can create an offset from the release date to the supply time.
Note: You must select Include release date on Data retrieval 1. - Forecast decisions
- Select the check box to take decision on forecast. You must have the IPW Planner or IPW User role to have a specified Decision PIN Code under Tools.
-
Note: Forecast buckets (FCS350) must correspond to the IPW buckets. Otherwise, if the forecast has five buckets per week (one bucket covers from Friday to Sunday) and IPW has seven buckets per week, the manual forecast decision in IPW on either Friday, Saturday, or Sunday bucket ends up in the forecast bucket covering from Friday to Sunday, then returns to IPW in the Friday bucket.

- Include released MO in supplies
- Select the check box to include the released MO in supplies. This enables the Manufacturing decisions to be taken from the released MOs.

the length of the horizon inside which MO proposals are
automatically released as MOs.Note: This is only applicable if the parameter Include released MO in supplies is selected.
