Basic Setup

  1. From the menu, select Settings > Basic Setup.
  2. Specify this information:
    Max number of items
Specify the maximum number of items hard-coded in IPW. The maximum is 1000. If you update IPW with a warehouse group containing many warehouses and an APS policy containing all item numbers in M3, you can retrieve almost all the data in M3 and limit database access for other users. The maximum number of items avoids this issue. If the maximum is reached, adjust the APS policy and warehouse group to limit the number of items retrieved by IPW.
    Forecast type
Specify the MDS version for the forecast type that is going to be used in the application.
    Manual forecast type
Specify the MDS version for storing manual forecast adjustments performed from within the application.
Note: The MDS version for the manual forecast type can either be identical to or different from the MDS version for the manual forecast type.

If the manual forecast type is equal to the forecast type, the original forecast is overwritten. With such a configuration, you cannot track the changes to the forecast performed from within the application.

You can understand the effect of last-minute forecast changes and how these changes affect your forecast accuracy by defining an MDS version for the manual forecast that is different from the original forecast.

    Structure type
Specify a value for the structure type that is going to be used when creating manufacturing orders.
    Time zone
Specify the IPW display time zone. The API transactions transfer data in the local warehouse time zone, which IPW then converts to the IPW display time zone. To take decisions, you must have an identical IPW display time zone to the warehouse time zone where the decision is taken.
    1. If the Time zone is not selected, IPW uses the user time zone defined in MNS150 as the IPW display time zone. The API transactions are not converted from warehouse time to a display time zone.
    2. If the Time zone is selected and the selected time zone exists, the IPW display time is selected as the time zone. The API transactions are converted from warehouse time to a display time zone.
    3. If the Time zone is selected and the selected time zone does not exist, the IPW display time zone is the user time zone defined in MNS150. The API transactions are converted from warehouse time to a display time zone.
To be able to make changes to a given item, you must have an identical item warehouse time zone to the display time zone.
Note: On Controls, the Date and time is also converted to the IPW display time zone.
    Write to log file
Select the check box to enable writing to the log file. You can export the log file to a text file and use it as an attachment when reporting an incident.
Note: You can use Ctrl + A and Ctrl + C to copy everything to Notepad for further analysis.
    Item description user language
Select the check box to retrieve the item description in the user language defined in MMS030.
    Item description language
Specify the defined language in which the item description is retrieved from MMS030. If the item description language is blank, the item description is retrieved in the user language defined in MNS150.
    Always retrieve data
Select the check box to always retrieve new data for any parameter change.
If this option is not selected, the data is not retrieved if you only made changes to the parameters on these tabs:
    • Grouping
    • Columns
    • Bucket Columns
    • Coloring
    • Item Filter
    • Item Bucket Filter
    • Related

Note: The tabs indicate Changes requires an update in orange or Changes does not require an update in green.
  3. Click OK.
