context message

A message that is sent from a screen, field, or other user interface object for the purpose of establishing the current context.

To show related information from M3 Business Engine, select Context Apps > Related Information in the Infor OS Portal or Infor Ming.le navigation panel while the Trace panel is displayed. Related information from M3 Business Engine is displayed only if your user ID belongs to the correct user group that is defined in the panel settings.

data transfer

A transfer of master data, order data, and transaction data from M3 Business Engine to M3 Graphical Lot Tracker.

The M3 Graphical Lot Tracker administrator schedules data transfers according to the company’s needs. The data transfer job is set up for the transfer of master data, order data, and transaction data that have been added or changed in M3 Business Engine since the last data transfer. If the data transfer has failed, then a warning message is displayed on the home page.

feature object

A GUI object whose fields and headers are predefined but configurable by the M3 Graphical Lot Tracker administrator.

For example, the M3 Graphical Lot Tracker administrator can configure the predefined set of search attributes of the Purchase Search panel. The M3 Graphical Lot Tracker administrator can configure the Trace Object Description section for a purchase trace step.

step ID

A unique key that identifies an object and the action that is performed on this object.

Normally an object is a lot in M3 Business Engine and action relates to the transaction type (TT), for example, purchase order. The step ID is built on this logic:

TT.Whs.Item.Lot

stock reclassification

An action that changes the characteristics of a lot-controlled item or a balance ID.

Stock reclassification is a key activity in managing items with short shelf lives. For example, a lot can be reclassified to change its expiry date or last sales date.

trace

A series of related transactions that consists of at least one From-Step ID and one or more To-Step IDs.

Using M3 Graphical Lot Tracker, you can trace and track transactions in the supply chain.

trace data

Information about the movements and processes of a trace object.

Trace data is displayed in the Trace Step diagram in the Trace panel and in various reports.

trace object

A concrete item or product in the trace, which may be a raw material, or a semifinished or finished product.

trace panel

A panel that shows the search results for one selected trace step.

From the search pages or from the Trace Panel option in the application menu, you can display the Trace panel. If you have selected the Trace Panel option in the application menu, the last shown trace step information is displayed.

trace relation

A description of the relationship between the trace steps.

Trace steps can be connected in any of these ways:

  • One to one
  • One to many
  • Many to one
  • Many to many

trace route

A description of the movement between trace steps in a production process.

An example of movement is when a purchased raw material is moved from a warehouse to production:

From-Step = Purchase -> To-Step = Manufacture

trace step

A traceable and specific object and an action that are represented by the step ID.

In the Trace panel, all available step data that are related to the trace step are displayed. Each trace step is displayed as part of the trace step diagram. An example is the receipt of a purchased lot into a specific warehouse.
