Using search panels

Different options are available for working with the search results:

  • To sort the search results, click the column heading.
  • To group the search result rows by step ID, click the Groups arrow.
  • To add or exclude columns, filter results, or export results to Microsoft Excel, different options are available in the grid settings menu (…):
    • The Personalize Columns option enables addition or exclusion of columns in the search results list
    • The Show Filter Row and Clear Filter options enable the use of column filters
    • The Reset to Default option removes all personalized column settings and filters
    • The Export option copies the grid data to Microsoft Excel. Click Export from the grid settings menu (…), then open or save the file locally. An export format of XLS or CSV can be specified in the settings on the Application Settings pane.

When using the search panels, consider these recommendations:

  • Specify at least one search argument. You can use any combination of search arguments or leave some of these blank.
  • Do not specify unnecessary information for a search. If you perform a search using an order number, this number is unique information. Additional information may slow down the search.
  • To minimize the response time, all non-numeric arguments are searched as specified. The SQL wildcard ‘%’ is supported for all arguments except for dates and strictly numeric values.

If you specify a wildcard in the beginning of an argument, then the search is performed against large volumes of data and is likely to be slow.

  • To exclude search results before or after a specific date, in the Transaction Date section, specify a date in the From Date or To Date field. If you do not want to narrow the search by date, leave these fields blank.
  • Time is optional and can be included to narrow the search. If you do not specify a time, the search is performed from the beginning of the first day to the end of the last day of the specified period.

Date and time are used to search for transactions that lead to a trace event. The trace itself cannot be limited by date and time.

  • Because different quality data may connect to the same trace object, the search may return several hits for the same trace object. For example, two transaction dates may exist for the same lot number.
  • An asterisk in the ‘*’ column of a search result indicates a rejected transaction. To show the rejected transaction detail list, click the arrow on the result record.
  • An asterisk in the ‘Order no’ column of the Sale Search result list indicates a customer order return.
  • To see the trace details in the Trace panel, in the search result list, click the arrow on the result record.
