SSL
The SSL (Secure Socket Layer) protocol is typically used for those parts of your web application that require a high degree of security. A couple of notes:

If you are setting up the SSL (Secure Socket Layer) protocol on the IIS (web server), you do not need to change any part of the setup in WebSphere Application Server.

Communication between the IIS and WebSphere is not encrypted. For this reason you do not need to change the WAS plug-in for IIS.
